Inoue has some great power generation. Nonito's left hook is about as picture perfect as you can get with amazing power recruitment from feet to the head. Sometimes it's wide but when you look at it all the way through, his left hook despite being wide, recruits power all the way from the feet to his head staying still and letting the hook carry him through.

Wilder has those windmill punches so yeah he's mechanically generating great power but at -1 technique but it works, so that's that.

I like Them_Apples' post about it as well.
Wilder also catches fighters w/ follow up power punches while they're falling. That's very hard to do. He's actually very accurate.

Sound technique is about great power, but it's also about defense and energy conservation.

Fighting like McGovern is great in a real fight, or other combat sports. But Boxing has basically become a pillow-fight. Boxers need to have fast, stright punches to score. Not necessarily score knockouts, but to rack up points.

Again "sloppy" punches can be countered by more technically sound ones, but see how far removed Boxing is from real fighting. In MMA fighters are regularly less accurate, but if you try to "Box" anywhere outside of Boxing you'll get KTFO. It just doesn't work.

Remember, punching super unnatural. And it's pretty difficult to teach what Wilder does. So, train a guy to (hopefully) fight like Finito Lopez, instead. That doesn't mean there's necessarily anything "wrong" with what Wilder does so long as it gets the results he's after.
