            problem was their empires was so big that not enough of clegg's grandparents to go around.

            that's why they always fought to minimize casualties and just to get peace deals and concessions. the greek soldier was the backbone of their armies because they didn't trust the native soldiers. they couldn't afford to lose many of them.
            Sources can be quite vague on the subject but in the early days of the Diadochi, like you said the military core remained Greek but these kingdoms lasted for a few centuries so as time went by more native eastern troops and mercenaries found their way into the ranks, as expected. By Raphia, a large number of native Egyptians were part of Ptolemy's phalanx and Antiochus had quite the multi national force present at Magnesia.
            It would be silly to have such man power at your disposal and not use it.

              top is older and worst condition but it's smaller , cooler and hard to find.

              bottom is newer and better condition but it's easy to get.

                  yeah but the greek/greek-trained soldiers were still the backbone and most reliable part of the army.

                  they paid greeks handsomely to immigrate to africa , asia minor , middle east , etc.

                  gave their families land and money to immigrate in exchange for service in the military.

                  by the end of course they have very few greek/greek-trained soldiers but around hannibal's time they were still very dependent on the macedonian phalanx (they just didn't have alexander's cavalry which made alexander's army special)

                  how much time was there from alexander's death to hannibal's time?

                  let me look it up.

                    i can actually make the bottom one all black too.

                    just need to buy accessories that are black plastic.

                    i need to be like those fat , white rednecks that has all the accessories.

                    i only have guns and ammo.

                    those ****s have vests , custom stocks , lasers , scopes , bandoliers , ****zine pouches , camouflage , etc.

                    i don't have any of that stuff.

                      only 100 years difference between alexander's death to hannibal's invasion of italy.

                      so i don't think much really changed yet with the hellenistic armies.
