We have asection of the criminal code in Canada that censures speech that promotes hatered towards another group of people.

Section 319(1) makes it an offence to communicate statements in a public place which incite hatred against an identifiable group, where it is likely to lead to a breach of the peace. The Crown prosecutor can proceed either by indictment or by summary process.

I can see the rational behind it but at the same time I have concerns about stifling free speech.
They don't appear to want to abolish free speech in your constitution. They want to amend it to allow the feds or states to pass hate speech laws that would stand up to constitutional challenges. It's a slippery slope..

Publishing crime statistics that show which groups commit the most **** and murder of other groups is considered "hate speech" in most European jurisdictions & on most social media platforms.

But you are correct in that it's terrifying so many morons would so freely give away a human right like that.

While the 2nd ********* is obviously important, without freedom of speech, liberty has no meaning.

I would just list them as 1A and 1B. Its almost like an argument of did the chicken or the egg come first. Without freedom of speech there is little for the 2nd ********* to defend, but without the second *********, freedom of speech will slowly cease to exist. There is a symbiotic relationship with the two.
