Beer company Heineken has pulled an advertisement for a light beer after receiving backlash for the commercial's alleged racially-charged undertones.

Popular musical talent Chance the Rapper ignited the crusade against Heineken on Sunday, accusing the company of intentionally creating a "terribly racist" ad to gain attention.

The ad shows a tanned bartender with a black beard sliding a Heineken Light across the bar to a young woman who also has tanned skin and dark hair. But the light beer passes by a number of black people ?female and male ?on its way over to the relatively lighter skinned woman. When the woman grabs the beer, text appears, reading, "Sometimes, lighter is better." Although the mention of "lighter" is referencing the light beer, which looks to be replacing the women's regular beer, weak accusations of racism emerged nonetheless.

"I think some companies are purposely putting out noticably (sic) racist ads so they can get more views," wrote the rapper via Twitter on Sunday. "And that s*** racist/bogus so I guess I shouldn’t help by posting about it. But I gotta just say tho. The 'sometimes lighter is better' Hienekin (sic) commercial is terribly racist omg."

They'll come out with a dark beer, pull the same stunt with the beer passing by white people and a black girl catching it and the commercial will be praised for its artistic endeavors.

You need to understand double entendre and how light/dark skin resonate in the black community. The problem with some people is trying to control how people think and feel. As soon as i read it, resonate with a deep issue that is going on the black community. Maybe instead of jumping to conclusion, just asked why it is an issue in the black community.

I don't need to ask because I already know. "Community Organizers" within the black community want to keep them angry. Want to keep telling them they are victims, so they are always on the defense, looking for something that should offend them.

Ever see how white men are portrayed in commercials for the last decade or longer? They wouldn't dare portray black men as the weak, cucked, beta-males that they do white men in commercials.

Please point out these "community organizers"?

The difference between white men being portrayed in commercials negatively, is that it is mostly white males behind the directors and producers chair, so it is up to them how they intend to portray themselves. For every 10% of white males being portrayed bad the other 90% are being portrayed good. Blacks, on the other hand, are not behind these chairs, thus have to protect their image from people who have been trying to distort it for centuries.

The beer commercials used a double entendre to convey its message. It is the same as the Asian detergent commercial, only difference is one is more subtle.

People have a right to be outraged at anything they feel slighted them and you, sir, with your sense of superiority don't get to tell them how and when they should do so.

lmao ok this does sound a bit racist from the description atleast. But would have to actually see what it looks like in video.

This thread has the potential to be another black janitor on the back of a box of cereal thread.

I read about this a few days ago and thought it was a ridiculous claim by Chance. I respect him, he's actually a good rapper and he's involved in his community, he's going to start some award thing where instead of awarding musicians they will award teachers and other professions. He means well. So when I heard of this claim of his I was like wtf is he doing. Then I saw the ad now i nthis thread, and it's pretty ****ing ****** and obvious. Wth was Heineken thinking?
