years ago an agency i worked for had to deal with this type of issue.

a person possessing a cack who identified as a chick used a chicks bathroom with kids in there. the then mayor adrien fenty had this person immediately banned from all centers on the basis that this person was a danger to kids due to past drug charges.

While I doubt it's 100% genetic, ultimately that wouldn't change my opinion about it. If people chose to be gay, wouldn't really make me feel like it was a bad thing to do.

But I don't believe anyone would choose the life of feeling incredibly out of place, like Lila Perry, if they had the choice. The life of having to go through all of these obstacles to be recognized for who you are. I can't really relate, but I couldn't imagine if I suddenly woke up with the same mind and was in a girl's body that I'd feel too great about no one being able to acknowledge who I am .

I think if you have a cock you should be using the boys locker room and if you have a vagina, the girl's locker room.

This would be real handy if not for the people who have a combination of ***ual organs, or who had their ***ual organs removed.

But even if that were not an issue, I don't see a penis or a vagina as the defining characteristic of what counts as a man or a woman.

Personally I'd have no qualms with non-gender/non-*** specific bathrooms. I don't see why a woman, by whatever definition, being in the same bathroom as men, by whatever definition, is problematic.

EDIT: That was my stance on bathrooms, locker rooms are just a bit trickier. I explain in a later post but the jist is that I don't think it's ok for pre-op trans***uals to expose themeselves, so as long as they can change modestly or in a stall or in some other reasonable way, I see no problem with their presence in said locker room. I'm sure each case can be handled, but I feel that it would be unfair to push that person in a locker room designated for another gender as this is spelling out in no uncertain terms that you do not agree with their own assessment of their own gender, which is an incredibly alienating experience.

Penis or vagina makes you male or female. If you decide to cut it off, it's a XX or an XY chromosome and that can't be changed. Sorry, if you were born with XY then you need to be in a male bathroom/lockeroom.

Actually not true. When beginning to consider what rules to set about transgender athletes, the IOC originally instated a chromosome test to detect whether the athletes were men or women. That's when they realized that there were men with extra X chromosomes (XXY) and females with only one X chromosome. They also found examples of people who developed all the physical characteristics you'd expect of a woman who were XY, and realized that they developed this way because their bodies didn't respond to the testosterone that they were producing (aka androgen insensitivity). And then there were inter*** people, like Caster Semenya, who lived their whole life considering themselves female. When doing gender tests they learned that where there would be ovaries she had actually grown internal testes, and that she had no womb.
