I'll admit, transgender is one thing I can't really wrap my head around. I don't understand how it is different than any other mental illness (not allowed to call it one anymore).

Until someone has had complete gender reassignment surgery, their gender remains the one they were born with. Bruce Jenner will remain a male until his male genitalia are surgically removed and replaced with female facsimiles. Until then, he is a man with breast implants who wears a dress. I do not believe that individuals under the age of majority are legally permitted to have gender reassignment surgery and as such, should be treated as the gender they were born as. If this causes problems in school for them, I suggest home schooling as the answer.

They'll always be a man/woman in my book. Stitching a penis on/taking an axe to their groin doesn't change that. Biologically we are just wired differently. Our bodies and minds are different.

Poverty country? Canada is continually rated one of the best countries to live in and has a good economy despite how hard our prime minister is trying to destroy it. I'm not sure if it was this article or another I read about this dude, but he said he was a gay male earlier in his life. He recently 'identified' as a transvestite (or whatever the PC word is supposed to be) and demanded to be allowed in the girl's locker room.

Again, the fact is this is a guy in a wig and a dress, and that fact isn't changing no matter how many times you refer to him as a she.

As to what *** people are, the birth certificate states that. That's one reason schools ask for them, to confirm things like age and ***. That dude was born a male, and so he is a male.

Again, not to beat a dead horse, I've already discussed that verifying someone's *** is actually quite complicated. I brought up an example of a person whose birth certificate says she is a woman. However, it wouldn't be until much later that they realized that she didn't have ovaries or a womb, and actually had internal testes. The birth certificate isn't always going to answer the hard questions, not everyone has a penis or a vagina, or either, or both (look up 'ambiguous genitalia'). The problem is that you have this view of people as either one or the other, black and white, clear as day, (despite that I have discussed plenty of situations where that would not be the case), and have just decided that nothing, not even evidence to the contrary, is going to change your mind.

From just the article alone, you have absolutely no ability to know what this person may or may not have going on down there, and it isn't any of your business either (as well - it isn't any of the school's administration's business either). The sole fact that you have is that this person looks like and was identified by others as a male (you don't know on what basis this was made, as again, you couldn't possibly know that this person has a penis), so you have a huge gap in ability to have an informed opinion. You can refer to Perry as a he every day of the week and still have this gap of knowledge. I don't think they owe you, or the administration etc, that information, which would not be requested from individuals who look more like the gender with which they identify.

Even if you did have this information, I cannot see why that should supersede one's own understanding of their own gender identity. It is convenient for people like us whose identity and appearance match up. I am a man, and I have a masculine body. But I know that I am a man regardless of those masculine features. If you removed all of those things from me, I'd still be a man, because that is something that I know about myself. That is my identity. However, in another hypothetical, if I had this same exact mind and a woman's body, I'd still think I was a man, because that is who I am, and I would want to make changes to my body that would reflect that. For some other people, this isn't a hypothetical. They have an identity, they have this same full understanding of who they are as I do, but without the convenience of ever having the appearance to match that identity in the first place. They started out of place, and are going into a body that lines up more appropriately with who they are.
