Dude, I don't think anyone is doubting that a dog can take down a human that's trying to run away.

That's a very different objective than a one on one fight to the death.

There is no doubt that while on the ground I could wrestle, easily overpower the dog, and get myself into a position where I could avoid it's jaws and basically beat the **** out of it until it was dead, or strangle it.

You have no idea what you are talking about...my dog has cat-like speed and amazing fighting instincts. My friends come over and everyone wants to play fight with the pitbull. They never are able to touch her and after a few seconds they are asking me to call her off. You would be no different and that's just play. If you sparked her survival instincts you would be luncheon meat and desperately trying to retreat.

I would probably have a good laugh if the average Joe decided to think it was a good idea to jump in the backyard to have a tussle with the two I own.

The are pretty powerful animals, very agile, and have a high pain threshold.

The reality is an unarmed man is afraid of an angry dog. They get alarmed from the bark and looking at the sharp teeth. A dog is not afraid of a man's punches, but a man is afraid of a dog's bite. Theoretically, everyone has a plan for every single situation that would happen to them if they sit down and think about it, from getting jumped by 5 dudes, zombie apocalypse, fighting a wolf pack, a Great White Shark, a trained Pit etc. but when the event actually takes place the plan goes horribly wrong and the man ends up in the hospital and the other animal/person is fine.

This a really weird post dude. The dog had been fighting another pitbull and was already almost dead. The poor dog probably thought it was safe in the hands of it's master...not exactly the same scenario TS was referring to.
