To be honest I notice mainly "people of colour" use the term. "Us people of colour", "us women of colour"....

It appears to be used by all those not of the "white" North American "ancestry"

When a Chinese Canadian and an African Canadian wish to form a bond they say "us people of colour".

Using "person of colour" is racist? What would be less racist? Person of higher melanin? Who the **** cares.

I've lived in Canada for over 10 years and have never once heard a Canadian use the term "coloured" in reference to someones race.

Its a very British thing, usually used by someone with an iq on the lower end of the scale.

If one race is "coloured" everyone is. I am white, last time I checked, that is a colour.

It means "black guy" it's some wierd form of political correctness. I just usually say "that black dude" I don't really see what the difference is other than one person is scared to call the other black. I'm white. It don't offend me.

As I understand it "person of color" was the nice racist slang of yesteryear. Black people years ago were more comfortable being called that than the regular racist terms. Its why a lot of old heads still use it.
