    Idris Elba the next James Bond?

    Hacked e mails from Sony Pictures suggest that Idris Elba (The Wire, Luthor) is the favourite to take over as 007 after Daniel Craig's run is finished. Craig is only contracted for one more movie in the franchise.

    I know that the Daily Mail comment section has nearly melted down in rage at the thought of a black James Bond. What is the view of the Lounge?

    James Bond is a white Scottish guy... Having him become black, or asian, or American is just absurd....

      I dunno. I like Elba. He can play a badass but is also pretty suave. I think that's what you want in a Bond.

        Race is not tied into the character, this isn't an autobiographical film as if he was playing **** Cheney or someone like that.

        He did a great job on the Wire as a smooth talking cool calm drug lord Stringer Bell

              But in all honesty who the f cares about boring ass lame ass James Bond. Stringer bell is the best thing to happen to the character in quite some time.

                  Michael Fassbender would be more legit. I just find it more believable because the character is of scotch decent and is caucasian but that's just me.

                    Fassbender would be a badass Bond to be fair.

                    I don't think race should be a factor. Nationality is though. Bond has to be British. An American Bond would be sacrilegious.
