Government exists to protect us from each other. Where government has gone beyond its limits is in deciding to protect us from ourselves.

Calling suicide a cowardly act is so far off the mark it's not even funny. I don't care who it is or what they have just done, having the balls to take your own life, with your own hands, bringing the finality to your existence in one swift moment, nothing cowardly about that. That takes balls.
I can't picture a scenario where I would have the balls to kill myself. No matter how bad life got, I could never bring myself to kill myself, if not just for the implications it would have on my family, I couldn't dream or hurting my family, especially my mum by taking her son away, knowing how heart broken she would be, that alone would stop me, but even if I was alone and had no family, nothing to live for I still don't think I have the guts to take my life. I'd pússy out as you'd call it.

Government needs to quit stickin its nose so far into medical business. Suffering increases tenfold when the Government starts trying to regulate doctors.

If I was terminally ill, in a lot of pain, bedridden and on a ton of extremely expensive drugs that were eating up money, investments and property I had hoped to leave to my kids and grandkids, I sure as hell hope I could convince someone to pull the plug.
As far as imprisoning and fining the teenage girl that took a few sleeping pills as a cry for attention, then no, just give her some counseling, maybe a trip to the funny farm for multiple offenders.

Its no ones decision but the individual's whether he/she doesn't want to live anymore.
Life can be alot more difficult than it is enjoyable and its not like anyone signed up for this so I wouldn't blame anyone for wanting out of this shithole.

Of course you're going to read the usual responses about how "It's the cowards way out" and you should "let them be cowards". But then again some people have actual mental issues and are threats to themselves.
If they're a threat to themselves they're probably a threat to others.
At least that's my .02
