Tony Montana the character is the ****. The overall movie Scarface is good but not as great as it gets played up to be. Goodfellas is better.

I can appreciate a good story. But there is nothing amazingly original or confounding about Scarface.

Have you ever heard of prison gangs, and the mafia paying people off?

FFS, in the movie you can clearly see Henry Hill paying the prison guard so he can sell his drugs and collect more from his wife.

Let me ask you this. How is it that someone can run out of a motel, chainsaw in hand and not attract police attention?

How can that man also proceed to get shot, point blank range in the head, and the perpetrator simply escapes by car and never gets caught?
LOL! SO now every single rags to riches story ever isn't original!!!!! Dude c'mon, are you serious?

i clearly said DRUGS OBVIOUSLY FALLING ALL OUT IN THE OPEN IN THE VISITNG ROOM OF A FEDERAL PRISON. Obviously they get everything we get out here in prison.

If you remember in Scarface, when they come out of the motel room, there are all kinds of police sirens heading towards the scene.

so is every love story ever unoriginal? LOL!!! what about stories of people overcoming prejiduce? i guess those are all unoriginal as well because they've been done to death. come to think of it, all stories with a protagonist and antagonist have been done before as well! wow, you are a true movie buff.

it's been 27 years since scarface came out. of course similar movies have been done to death since then, it was a classic.

Okay you must be ****** because you can't seem to get this.

Originality is something that hasn't been done before or something that is new or novel. Rags to Riches movies and stories have been done long before Scarface. Meaning that Scarface, being another Rags to Riches movie, does NOT making it ****ing original!!!

Why is this so hard for you to understand?

And you don't think they had the prison staff on the payroll? Seriously? The Lucchesse crime family was one of the most powerful Italian organized crime families around at that time.

If you remember in Scarface, when they come out of the motel room, there are all kinds of police sirens heading towards the scene.
But yet in broad daylight Tony, (who was still fresh off the boat), can shoot someone in the head, in the middle of the street, by the beach with hundreds of witnesses and skate away clean?

I see you are still not understanding my point. by saying this you are essentially saying that every love story also is not original and that really every movie is unoriginal. Aince there's so many movies just like it, perhaps you can go ahead and provide an example?

Why is this so hard for you to understand?

Of course people have prison staff on the payroll as well as visitors sneaking stuff in, i just thought that scene wasn't even attempting to be realistic, that's all.

But yet in broad daylight Tony, (who was still fresh off the boat), can shoot someone in the head, in the middle of the street, by the beach with hundreds of witnesses and skate away clean? this kind of stuff happens pretty frequently, do you know what percentage of homicides are solved in the us? I know if major crime cities it's under 50%.

                please see above

I like Scarface but that movie is seriously overrated. It isn't exactly a masterpiece of a movie and even Al Pacino isn't that great in his role. His accent changed several times during the movie and rarely did he have an actual cuban accent in the movie.

Goodfellas was a masterpiece of a movie with great acting.

This IMO, is no competition. Goodfellas by MILES.

Scarface critics are going hard on the film. You're not realizing that an actor can make or break a movie. Sure Scarface was a **** movie to a lot of you, but he made the movie what it is. Without Pacino this would have been an even lesser debate. Tell me something, would the Goodfellas be what it is today without Robert De Niro? Put Pesci's performance in perspective, put Liotta's performance in perspective, Paul Servino, Mike Starr etc. That movie had an all star cast and could have been a good movie without it's starring character De Niro. Al Pacino was basically by himself in Scarface.

I mean sure it had Michelle Pfiffer and that Loggia guy but the cast in Scarface wasn't even close to the cast in Goodfellas. Whether you like it or not, this debate is every where and it just shows Al Pacino's greatness. To put him versus a movie with a better director and better actors(not better than Pacino). He's just that good, his performances stand out in the ****tiest films. This Scarface vs Goodfellas debate is every where from the streets to Hollywood and it just shows how good Al Pacino really is. You don't get nominated for 8 Oscars in your acting career for nothing. BTW 8 is the most and it's tied with Jack Lemmon and Marlon Brando. Scarface didn't win anything, but Al Pacino made that movie what it is, single handily.

                      Good Fellas=Fantastic Movie

                      Scarface=Okay flick but vastly overrated

They aren't even comparable when talking about greatness.
