So ***** didn't want the West to set up shop in Ukraine

And didn't want the West recruiting Ukraine for NATO. He has seen what happens when the West pushes its democracy and 'freedom' and knows what that would mean for Russia (and himself), if the West was right on his border with a NATO affiliated Ukraine.

Apparently he just asked the West for the concession that they won't recruit Ukraine to NATO. Without that concession, why wouldn't he go into Ukraine? Without it, he knows that his country is next for this great freedom and democracy.

The West is completely inept with its foreign affairs. Say what you want about *****, but at least he wasn't a fuc, king idiot like all these ******** and Reps we have in office in the USA.

You mentioning the west and Russia but not the Ukraine? Shouldn't they be allowed to decide what they want?

I can assure you the overwhelming amount of Ukrainians don’t need to be recruited or sold on the West and NATO, they’ve been begging to join the past 8 years, it’s the west and nato that doesn’t want them.

They shouldn't be used as a political football!!! What we're seeing now is the inevitable outcome here, when the West is determined to spread their damn 'democracy' everywhere. The West certainly had a hand in the coup in 2014.

The West want Ukraine as their vessel state. Russia wants Ukraine as their vessel state. Why the hell should it matter to us if Russia has a hand in Ukraine instead of us? It's much more important to them.

It seems as though Ukraine is a very fragmented country. A lot of ethnic Ukrainians and also a lot of ethnic Russians. It is not a very cohesive, monolithic country. The western side aligns with Europe. The eastern side aligns with Russia. I'm sure none of them want to be in the situation they are in now.

If we stayed out of it, and tried to just keep Ukraine neutral and a buffer zone before Europe and Russia, all of this could have been avoided. ***** just doesn't want NATO on his front door step, I don't blame him one bit.

If we stayed out, I'm sure he would just have his puppet in place in Ukraine, but would they not be better off then than now?

Our media is such a joke man. Look at all the people on here who just go against ***** purely because they live in the west. Once you research it, it makes all the sense in the world why he is doing what he is doing. And yes the Dems and most of the Reps are just woeful with foreign policy.

Who the hell are these people serving?

It depends which Ukrainians you ask, and when. 10 years ago no one wanted to join. After the coup, the numbers may be different. Who knows what polling is really accurate.

A good article below to read. The West refuses to see things from Russia's point of view, and this is why we are where we are now.

Ukraine voted in a leader that ran on joining the EU. This is about freedom and democracy. A paranoid dictator doesn't have the right to bully Ukraine into his demands.

So you really think those protests in 2014 were completely organic?
