Yeah it's well known that the vaccines that were developed initially are not as effective against Omicron. Mainly because Omicron wasn't around when the vaccines were developed. Omicron is a different animal. However the vaccines are effective at keeping patients alive and out of the ICU. For one thing Delta and some of the earlier variants have not completely gone away so getting vaccinated is still a good idea. There are vaccines in development now targeted at Omicron.

Difference between antibodies which are more specific and target or inhibit the invading microbes (viruses or bacteria) and T-cells which attack the infected cells after they been infected. One is more preventative the other is more reactive and much longer term. Wrote a good long post about the difference between antibodies and T-cell response a day or two ago. Beginning to think dudes don't want to learn about this stuff. Anyway I'll just do block quote save some time rather than waste another essay on ya..





In general T-cells are both far longer lasting and broader spectrum (hell I think even T-cells produced by response to common cold have been shown to offer some protection vs COVID) : though it'l be likely reduced by greater genetic divergence.

im not hugely interested in the immunology/theory of it all i just want something that works properly and isnt redundant every time the virus mutates, which is pretty much all the time. they could have ended this thing if theyd gone down the route of throwing the money at the antivirals rather than some crappy mrna jabs, but they know that wouldnt make made them 10 percent of the money that a global vaccination campaign has, which is now approaching its 4th round of jabs

Their economy shrunk more than the other Scandanavian countries that introduced lockdowns. Remember there were no vaccines at the beginning of this mess. Stop it everyone was selling the vaccine as the end of covid and you know it, nobody ever once said "oh this vaccine may make your symptoms better but won't stop you from getting covid." People would have just taken zinc instead, that does the same thing, maybe better.
