In all seriousness, I am considering trying to get the virus for that very reason.

Over half the people I work with have had it. All of them are fine. Minor cold/flu effects and no lasting effects. And now they have natural immunity.

Aparrently Little Ronnie's cadre of toadies has investigated a health official for the shocking and unforgivable sin of encouraging emloyees to get vaccinated. His Gestapo wannabees are taking this apparent crime against humanity seriously. DeSantis is vaccinated and has publically encouraged vaccinations but this action may be because he's come under criticism lately from the extreme right for not doing enough to discourage sane and rational safety measures.

Just as it is brilliant to say there was no power grab after the 1918-19 pandemic. There was no power grab because the pandemic happened right after the FIRST WORLD WAR. Also, that was indeed a pandemic. It killed around 50 million people, over THREE times the deaths of WW1, out of a total world population of around 2.5 billion. Covid killed 5.5 million out of just under 8 billion, and in a longer timespan. Making Covid over 30 TIMES LESS DEADLY than the spanish flu.

The virus in 1918 was more deadly but the plague in Europe killed off so many people that it took 200 years before the population rebounded to pre plague levels. So using your magical logic 1918 wasn't a real pandemic.

By your logic, we need to have annual lockdowns and forced vaccination for the flu, and as long as we have a flu season, we might need those for the next couple of centuries annually. The seasonal flu is a pandemic by your logic.
