People seriously expect Ronaldo to win a world cup? Guy plays on a team that regularly plays Helder Postiga and MRLSH.

He's absolutely one of the best, if not the best players I've ever seen.

Two years ago, he was behind Messi, but the guy's relentless and absolutely obsessed with being the best. In that time, he's been significantly better IMO. Carried Madrid, pretty much single handedly across the line in 2011, when the rest of the team decided to go to **** down the stretch, that was to me, the time where he really surpassed Messi in terms of influencing his team, especially in big games. Messi's goal record last year overshadowed the fact that he went missing in the 4 biggest games of that calender year, the two Classico's and the two legs against Chelsea. He had no business winning that Ballon Dor.

Ronaldo should win it this year, that tie probably sealed it, that was some all time great stuff tonight. It should be his 4th, rather than his 2nd.

As for his all time legacy, I hate the debate, with people talking with such assurance on players they've never seen play. I never saw Pele, Maradona, Cruyff, Best etc. play consistently, so it's pointless trying to compare. It does make me laugh though seeing people overrated the world cup as an individual accolade. For a start, it's nowhere close to the Champion League or even most European League's in terms of quality, club football is a far higher standard. Incomparably so. Secondly, it's an absurdly unfair barometer with far too may variables to use as a standard bearer. Should George Best, Ryan Giggs, Gareth Bale etc. all get disregarded as players? I mean they never even made it, or in Bales case, will never make it to a world cup. Laughable criteria to judge a player on.

As for why United fans like Ronaldo. He's a club legend, yes he wanted to leave, but so what? He had given us pretty much all we could ask for, helped us win 2 league titles and a CL before he wanted to leave, and after that helped us to another title and a CL final. I'd have a hell of a lot more time for Ronaldo than that tedious, decietful sack of **** that is Wayne Rooney.

LOL. You said it yourself. Ronaldo's career reached higher heights than CR7's ever will. CR has two career WC goals. Two. Ronaldo almost averaged two a game. And those 2 goals? Came against the powerhouse sides of North Korea and Iran. LOL. CL means nothing compared to a world cup. ask any professional player in the world which they would prefer to win.

I like Nani a lot more than most United fans, but he's absolutely nothing to rave about. Incredible talent, but incredibly inconsistent, and when he's bad, he's awful.

Pepe is excellent, as is Moutinho, not world class players by any means but definitely very good. Coentrao is decent, not a great defender though, Madrd are looking to offload him. They have some other decent players. Meireles is the worst player in the history of the sport and that's when he's not on meth.

Who's calling them minnows here by the way? I'm asking for some perspective in an absolutely ludicrous arugement. Ronaldo9 played with ballon d'or winners, all time greats in their own right - The likes of Rivaldo, Roberto Carlos, Ronaldinho (Most talented player I've ever seen bar none btw), Cafu, Kaka, Lucio, Leonardo, Romario etc. and you're using his international success, amongst that level of talent as the justification for putting him over Cristiano.
