Did you know that 25 years ago before United started winning everything they used to average about 25000 a game? 90% of the time people follow successful teams. The rest support their local team.

The reason the DW is never full is because the town is tiny. The entire town of Wigan has a population of 80,000. That means one in every 4 people would have to...

    1) Be a Wigan Fan

    2) Be interested in football

    3) Be able to go the game (Not have work or other plans)

    4) Be able to afford tickets. (Yes its cheap but that still doesnt mean EVERYBODY can afford to go)

Now also take into account that many people in Wigan are United/City fans due to both teams being only 20 minutes away. And also add the fact that Wigan arent exactly the most successful team it more than explains why the place isnt packed every week.

But it still makes me laugh when people say the likes of Leeds etc deserve to be in the Premiership and Wigan should not. What a load of bull****. The game of football is about the teams, not the fans. I dont care if a championship side get 100,000 to every home game. Unless they win (like Wigan obviously have) then they shouldnt be there.
Been to a few Wigan games this year. I hope they don't go down. It is nice to see premiership footy and going to Wigan doesn't feel like cheating.

That said, I would love to see James McCarthy leave just so he can reach his true potential. The kid is brilliant but he needs someone to give him a massive kick in the arse to push him on to that next level. He could hold down a starting place in any of the top 4 sides.

I still don't think Benitez has done a good job. It took him three months to figure out that Chelsea are more likely to win if we play all our best players.

Mourinho could win the league with this Chelsea team, I'm convinced. Ferguson is worth 15 points a season, so is Mourinho. Chelsea will be hitting mid-80's in the league and that might be good enough.
I agree. Torres is about average now. A decent backup but not the star he used to be. My issue is Ba was a poor buy. Even for 8m, he isn't all that, at least not to the expectations of chelsea. A top 4 team playing for big trophies. He doesn't fill that critical player mold.

Benitez did decent tbf. If he got lukaku instead of ba. He probably wouldn't have ran into the issues that he did. Lukaku fits that owen, torres mold. Which benitez's system needs.

Next season if mourinho comes back, we are a force again. I hope we switch to the 433 as well.

Sunderland are up shit creek here!! 37 points with 2 games to go and missing Sessegnon and Gardner for both games.

Next game against Southampton who arent playing too bad and then final day away to Tottenham

I would be very surprised if Sunderland get a another point

Manchester has a population of 500,000, let's say support between City and United was split 50/50 and everyone liked football then 1 in 5 have to go to the games for us to fill the ground.

When we averaged 30,000 a week in the 3rd tier in 1999 the population of Manchester was less than 400,000, so that's about 1 in 5/6 people going watching 3rd division football every week (this is at the same time as United winning the treble). So it's not really an excuse that applies.

I'm not saying you don't deserve to be in the prem because as you pointed out, whoever gets the results deserve to be there. But that doesn't stop people wanting Wigan to not be there, because I think people feel like other clubs in the lower leagues have fanbases that will appreciate it a lot more. I agree with them in the case of clubs like Leeds, Notts Forrest, Derby, the Sheffield clubs etc.

City should be given the tickets that Wigan obviously can't sell for Wembley, cos there's gonna be a lot of empty seats in the Wigan end and it will just look **** for everyone. All that's happening at the moment is hundreds/thousands of City fans are just buying tickets in the Wigan end.
Where has anything been said about Wigan not selling their allocation for the final because I have not seen it?

Yeah he's brilliant isnt he. Amazing touch and awareness. Heard a rumour that United were looking at him but I don't know how true it is. I reckon he will go somewhere like Liverpool or Tottingham

Just had a look and still cant see anything. I was under the impression most of the tickets were gone. it wont be easy for City fans to get in the Wigan end. Tickets were limited to two per season ticket holder and even when they go on general sale Its still not straight forward to get them if you have never had tickets from the club before

Nothing has been said on here about the cup final tickets, I was just saying that the allocations for the final are what got me speaking about Wigan attendances in general. Meaning that normally I wouldn't be arsed about discussing it if not for the issue being related to me or people I know.

You had loads of blocks empty last week when we'd sold out our allocation, mostly the 115 quid ones. Now City fans have been buying them in your end since last week you don't have as many empty seats in there. It isn't that difficult to buy tickets from Wigan without purchase history, I've had mates driving down to Wigan and buying them at the ground.

All I'm saying is that if it ends up kicking off in the Wigan end it will be because of a lot of City fans being in an area that they should've been allocated tickets for in the first place.

We got allocated 31k and realistically there'll be about 55k City fans in there on Saturday, whether that be in the club Wembley section or the Wigan end.

No matter how many end up there. Good Luck!

I was at your ground a few weeks ago when we played you on a Wednesday night and you were terrible!! Lucky Tevez scored that goal in the end. You didnt deserve it to be honest but I suppose that is what the big teams do. Get the points even in games they dont deserve them.

FA Cup final will be completely different though as most of our defense is injured and you will be up for it far more.

Wouldn't surprise me if you win about 3-1 or 4-1
