Even in the most classic 4-4-2s, the two strikers were never that rigid, you'd always have 1 of the strikers dropping or floating wide. That's why having a good partnership was so important e.g: Bergkamp-Henry, Yorke-Cole, Inzaghi-Shevchenko, Raul-Morientes ... etc

In your example, Raul would probably drop and one of Alonso or Khedira would have to pick him up.
