Looks like Newcastle are trying to get De Jong banned or punished for his tackle on Ben Arfa..
I don't know why the dutch boss dropped him for it though

I think De Jong being banned is mainly to save a bit of face and make it look like they don't condone this harsh tackling and would like to get back to playing some nice football.

According to reports, Federico Macheda will leave Manchester United to go on loan to Serie A side Lazio.
Though with the Lazio rumour it said they would have an option to buy him permanantley after the loan, if this is true then United have lost their minds.
No way can we let Macheda go.

Doesn't really give them much chance
I don't want him to go though, but i didn't want Rossi gone either but he was deemed surplus to requirements..

Problem is we have too many strikers. Ferguson has bought loads when we don't need them. We now have Welbeck (on loan at Sunderland), Macheda, Chicharito, Diouf (on loan at Blackburn), Owen and Bebe all trying to get places but Ferguson will never replace Berbatov and Rooney in the starting line up for them unless it's the Carling Cup or if they are injured.
Why do we buy all these strikers when only a certain amount can play? More to the point how can you develop 5 different young strikers if you have to rotate them all.
I don't see the point in having that many, they will never develop into anything great if they don't get the attention they need. Macheda could have been in the first team way before he was now if we kept playing him from when he scored against Aston Villa. But instead we held him back and bought another 4 strikers!
The problem at United is there's too many strikers and too much expectation. You get given your chance and you put in an average performance then that's you done for a few weeks at least because there's another 2 or 3 waiting to take your place. I don't think it's a set up that works tbh and i'm baffled as to why we have so many i don't remember having this many before.
I think we would have been fine focusing on developing Welbeck and Macheda. They seem to be 2 great talents who have worked together for a long time in the reserves and have a good understanding of one another. Those two had some good short runs in the team before the rest arrived. After that we bought Owen, Diouf, Chicharito and Bebe which is ridiculous imo.
If there's any place that we need strengthening then it's midfield! With Giggs and Scholes retiring soon it's quite daunting looking at what we have to replace them with. I see no central midfield players coming in or coming through the ranks. Tom Cleverly is the only bright spark there and he's on loan at Wigan. Carrick is bad and getting older and Gibson is promising but he has a way to go yet.Last edited by Joe2608; 10-05-2010, 04:25 PM.

maybe some good news after a shocking start to the season
Sky Sports News understands two new bids have been tabled to take control at Liverpool, one of which is from the owners of the Boston Red Sox.
The Merseyside outfit were put up for sale by current owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett in April, with the duo keen to end their association if a buyer can be found at their ?00million asking price.
That figure has so far prevented any meaningful progress in takeover discussions, with Syrian businessman Yahya Kirdi the latest to withdraw his interest earlier on Tuesday.
Hicks and Gillett need to find a buyer before 15th October to repay their ?82million loans to the Royal Bank of Scotland and Wachovia.
If they are unsuccessful then RBS are poised to take control of Liverpool, the asset against which the loans are secured, and sell the club themselves to recoup their cash.
It is understood that Liverpool's board and chairman Martin Broughton were in favour of recommending both of the new bids for consideration after meeting on Tuesday, but that plan was met with disagreement from the owners.
Unpopular
Alongside the bid from the group behind successful MLB franchise the Red Sox, another offer has been tabled from a Far East consortium.
The Red Sox are run by New England Sports Ventures, a group headed by John William Henry II and Tom Werner.
Hicks and Gillett have become increasingly unpopular on Merseyside with supporters blaming the duo for Liverpool's current fall from grace.
The disappointment of last season's miserable seventh-place finish has intensified this term with Rafa Benitez's replacement Roy Hodgson unable to stop the rot.
The Reds suffered an embarrassing Carling Cup exit at home to League Two Northampton on penalties before going down 2-1 to newly-promoted Blackpool at Anfield on Sunday.
How supporters of the five-time European champions would react to further involvement from across the Atlantic after their current American experience remains to be seen.
