Newcastle United set to confirm signing of former Everton starlet Dan Gosling on four-year deal - report

Newcastle United have reportedly completed a deal for former Everton midfielder Dan Gosling.

The England under-21 international spoke with Premier League sides Bolton Wanderers, West Ham United and Sunderland before moving to Newcastle, signing a four-year contract worth £5.5million, according to The Mirror.

The 20-year-old was permitted to leave the Toffees for free thanks to an administrative error by the club. Everton offered Gosling a new deal verbally but did not provide him a written offer before the Premier League deadline.

Gosling was set to make about £15,000-a-week with the Toffees but will earn £25,000-a-week with Newcastle because his new team did not have to pay a transfer fee for the midfielder.

Of the clubs interested, only Newcastle committed to sign Gosling even if they would have to pay a fee after an appeal from Everton.

Chris Hughton's side went forward with the deal even though the midfield starlet will miss the first three months of the season after undergoing knee surgery.

As yet there is no official confirmation from Newcastle that a deal has been reached, although such an announcement appears to be imminent.

Balotelli's agent is on his way to Manchester to talk to rivals United and City about a £33 million transfer.

This kid is a good player and i reckon Fergie can turn him into the new Ronaldo, he's only 19 and has the tricks, free kick taking and finishing. He's far from the finished article though and there is no way a 19 year old is worth £33 million. United won't pay that and also if Fergie leaves United at the end of this season like he's rumoured to who's going to take over and make him into a superstar? It took Fergie years to create Ronaldo. He's also going to have to sort his attitude out if he wants to be a starter.

      Basically, he's going to City.

Liverpool have completed the signing of Serbia international striker Milan Jovanovic from Standard Liege on a three-year contract.

A deal for the 28-year-old was agreed in February, and he arrives at Anfield on a free transfer.

At the time, Jovanovic said: "I opted to sign for Liverpool because they're one of the biggest teams in Europe - definitely in the top 10."

He turned down Real Madrid last year fearing a lack of first team chances.

Jovanovic joined Standard in 2006 and helped them win back-to-back titles in 2007-08 and 2008-09.

He has also played for Shakhtar Donetsk and Lokomotiv Moscow, and made his international debut for Serbia in a 2-0 win over Finland in June 2007.

By default, he becomes the first arrival under Roy Hodgson, who took over as Liverpool boss on 1 July.

Liverpool made their move for Jovanovic under previous boss Rafael Benitez, who is now the manager of Inter Milan.
