People forget his age, he hasn't even finished developing yet. The prospects for this player are awesome and if Kaka, Ronaldo and (hysterically) Ibrahimovic can go for such high fees then Cesc's fee, given the length of his contract, realistically needs to break the world record. I'm not saying it will happen but look at recent history and tell me we aren't being robbed if we sell at £50-£60mill.

Paying over £35 million for players is ridiculous in my opinion.
Having said that in todays terms i would say £40 million is a fair price for Fabregas. If you push hard enough you will get about £50-55 million for him but anything more and they are getting robbed. With all due respect to Fabregas he is not Xavi and can't control games like he does, he's not the same style of player. Midfielder's don't generally go for over that price it's only strikers or star wingers that can rack up that much.
I think Barca feel like he is still a Barca player at heart because he came through the youth system so they can get the price down by playing that card, and the fact that Fabregas probably wants to go to Barca.
Arsene Wenger's reluctance to sell is what is driving the price up, he's pretty smart in the way that he makes it look like Fabregas is unsellable and in the end you will get a big price for him thanks to that i think.

What we can hope for is Mourinho to win everything next season and maybe then they will be more desperate to get him.

But this isn't in retrospect, this is reality. In todays market Cesc is worth as much as if not more than the likes of Ronaldo, Ibrah, Kaka. He is in the same bracket as the Iniesta's of the world although not quite Xavis yet imo.
It is clear that each time Cesc came onto the pitch for the Spanish their game was transformed in terms of potency, the same can be said of the Euros if you think back. Cesc isn't massively behind Xavi in terms of passing ability and vision but he is no doubt miles ahead in terms of providing a superior cutting edge. I honestly think that at his full potiential he will be a better all round player.

Wenger needs to take a ****ing risk and spend some $$.
So in a way if Fabregas stays we win nothing and if he goes we win nothing, so from that point of view we should cut him some slack. We just simply haven't invested enough into the squad to hang on to our big names.
Saying that, it didn't stop him signing a long term contract to collect a pay rise.
