the mls is a giant piece of ****.... its a low class, second or third tier league.... no one will watch because its not first class.... throwing a ridiculous amount of money at an aging player will not solve the problem...

The younger generations of 30 and under respect soccer and enjoy it, but there just hasn't been the catalyst to set off the soccer movement in America. I don't think it'll reach the heights of Football, basketball, or baseball but it will pass hockey easily once the American public embrace it a little bit.

...Listen here whiper snapper!!! They have been saying that soccer was on the brink since I played it for two seasons for ****s and giggles as a 12 year old, and dominated a whole league of soccer ***s. I abruptly went back to baseball, football, and basketball to be amongst real males.

There was a recent poll on ESPN.com about this very thing. It's popularity in the US has risen little in the past 25 years. It will never be a fraction of what American football is here.

America will never embrace Soccer. No other countries embrace American Football, and we dont embrace Soccer.

Think about it. They thought the women's team winning the World Cup would change everything and their league folded in less than four years.

Beckham won't make football (soccer) popular in America, hes a quality player but he needs to be around quality players to get the best out of him. You won't see him taking people on and being exciting that way, however you will get the best crosser in the world and a fantastic player at set peices. If he were say a exciting player that would take people on say like Ronaldhino (never gonna happen tho) would bring more people to the sport in the States. Beckham is great but he won't score shed loads of goals as some people are expecting.
