    Beckham

I think Americans want to embrace soccer. I think it's on the tip of people's tongues to want to suggest they enjoy soccer and are simply looking for something to push it to the forefront of sports. I don't think it'll surpass Football, basketball, or baseball but I feel it can draw its fair share of fans. I'm not sure if bringing Beckham over is what will do it but if they find some good marketing schemes and some ways to entice more fans I can easily see America embracing soccer unlike the past ever did.

I actually think Beckham may very well make soccer explode over here.

He's not a homegrown star and he's over the hill in terms of his abilities. If he manages to somehow draw the fans to make soccer respected and watched then I'm fine with it... I just don't think he'll be able to do it. Something will eventually. Perhaps Freddy Adu (sp?) when he gets a little older.

true, but he's a superstar of the sport and there are tons of fans over here who have never been able to see him play live and now they will.Adu is just to young now maybe in a few years when he develops a personality because he's boring.

Americans will embrace soccer when they win the World Cup and who knows when will that be.

Beckham might turn some young girls into soccer cause of his looks, but I don't really see Beckham tuning soccer into one of the major sports here.

I think soccer is growing slowly over here. For the longest time is was just a relatively low contact sport for our kids to learn with. I could never really get into soccer that much until my boy played, in little league. Now I can actually follow a game.

I don't like Beckham, there is something very fake about him.

You're old; I don't expect you to understand Gramps.

The younger generations of 30 and under respect soccer and enjoy it, but there just hasn't been the catalyst to set off the soccer movement in America. I don't think it'll reach the heights of Football, basketball, or baseball but it will pass hockey easily once the American public embrace it a little bit.
