how best to increase punching stamina

I suppose this is a basic question but I want to hear what people recommend.

I've noticed that with an opponent who's easy to hit, I punch myself out very quickly and in the next round I feel too tired to attack and it's difficult to keep my hands up to defend myself.

My trainer suggested using my legs more so i'm not only using my arms, but i'm thinking for now it'll be simpler to focus on stamina.
My goal is to have enough stamina to be able to maintain enough pressure and overwhelm my opponent. Offense is the best defence as they say.

    Thanks

Pick your shots and timing, every shot doesn't have to be a full blown huge swing. Pop, pop, pop, big shot or pop, pop, pop, big, pop. Look at Lomachenko, throws 4 or 5 rapid fire to land his 6th big hook

The pop fast shots land, keep him busy, covering slipping etc, occupy his mind and more importantly rack up the points, then the big one thrown in their will hurt him and slow him and maybe drop him.

If you want to unload and finish him off that's fine, but my coach says if you up the speed, intensity, power, once you've done it you can't go back. So if you want to blow him out the water. You have to make sure he's stopped.

Using your hips will help, it feels more exhausting at first but the punches will have form and power.

A well timed decent shot doesn't have to be an AJ/Deontay wilder style KO. The times I've been knocked down and the times I've knocked people down tend to be a well placed, nice and precise shot in an exposed area.

Unless your a born heavy handed hitter there is no substitute for proper technique!

If you have a trainer why don't you listen to him?

Thanks for the advice Richard P. I've been told by trainers before that not every shot should be a power shot so I'll work on fast light hits before going for a power shot.

Thanks Luilun, I'll check it out.

Actually for some reason I do seem to be heavy-handed, at least that's what most people say after sparring/mitts.

You're right, of course I should listen to my trainer but my technique isn't the main problem, in my case I just have a total lack of stamina and the trainer knows that too.

One thing I've started to do to increase stamina is shadowboxing while wearing the 16oz gloves- I kind of forgot about doing that and should have been doing it regularly. IMO if you're training with gloves much lighter than what you'll be using in a fight, or no gloves at all, there isn't much point unless you're just focusing on technique.

Bag sprints mate. Have your training partner hold the bag for 30 seconds while you throw hell for leather, and they call out when 30 seconds is up on the clock, then you switch. Do this for a round, you'll be ****ed, trust me.

It could be with your technique maybe record yourself hitting the bag or sparring and post it on here.
