the sad thing is, i couldn'T show my coach anything i have learned, i was like a heavybag. i couldn't throw any punches because of nervousness and the guy believe or not had a more tremendous punch than the guy who beat me up.

    competing at lightweight @ 132lbs
    me: red corner, 16 yr/old
opponent: blue corner, 21 yr/old. i think he had slightly more experience than me.

i guess entering the practice fight was a good experience for me :-/
That was an obvious mismatch in experience, your coach should've stopped it in the first round to be honest.

Not knocking you at all man, just keep working hard, spar more and work on a ONE-TWO some more..

The guy in the blue was sort of a d!ck for going so hard in a sparring session when he knew he carried more experience, but his time will come. Hopefully you take this as a learning experience and keep working hard man.

It was a total mismatch in experience and age.
But even with this you bravely fought back and I ahve to say I was extremely impressed with your heart.

When you actually threw the straight right hand it landed pretty often.
Problem was you never fully extended your punches so they came out very slow and hesitant.
A 1-2 combo doesn't do **** if you barely stretching your arms out and it will only leave you open for more punishment.
Your coach should have corrected this a long time ago.
You hesitated a lot with your punches which left you open, but at times you fought back and actually caught him many times with that counter right hand.
When you didn't hesitate you landed pretty good.
I also see you improved your defense a lot but you need head movement.
So many of those shots you took, you could have avoided with head movement.
You actually made him miss a lot of his left hands with your footwork.
Lets not forget you fought a southpaw which is next to impossible for someone who only has trained 9 months.

All and all I'm super impressed with your heart.
You need to start working on fully extending your punches, work on your blocking and head movement in the pocket.

I saw a lot of promise in you kid honestly, I just feel that your coach isn't correcting some flaws that any coach would have done long ago.
And throwing you in a fight against a 21 year old with experience... Idiotic.

You had to learn defense on your own.... thats crazy!

Either way start watching how guys like Floyd Mayweather or Mike Tyson use head movement and try to train it while you shadowbox.
remember relax and extend your punches

Next time, try throwing hooks. Stay in your guard and get in close. That way you can throw short hooks to the body and head while keeping your guard up the whole time. Like Ippo, your japanese and I know you know what I am talking about.

It's corny but honestly. I think you'd be better off with the peek-a-boo infighting style. You just don't have the reflexes for mid-range boxing. Your still beginning but I think the infighting style would help you adjust and adapt to boxing easier.

I wish I could show you but all I can do is try to explain it the best I can. Good luck and just give it a try in practice. You may like it better than the jab-straight mid-range boxing.
Thats over simplifying it and drawing conclusion that makes no sense.
You need head movement and speed to work the inside game, Taise is tall and has long arms that he needs to take advantage of.
Also "reflexes" come when you develop defense and doesn't get blitz krieged by a 21 year old.
taise just needs to stretch his punches out a bit and work on his speed and head movement.
He need "mindless punching" he over think his punches because his coaches over complicated them.
Most of all he needs to change gym

I thought he did change gyms?

I figure he would adapt and adjust easier to boxing and getting punched if he fought a different style.

At least with the infighting style he could keep his guard and himself protected while throwing punches.

The way he is now. He throws them too slow and sees them coming back too late. Now if he uses an infighting style with the tight guard. He could keep protected, so reacting slow won't be as big of a hinderance. While giving him a chance to throw some back without over-extending or leaving himself open like he does now.

I like the guy as a boxer. I hope he doesn't quit. I see him and I think a gem in the rough. Just needs the proper help to make him shine.

You got heart man. You should be fighting 16 year old not someone who's 21. Keep working at it.

not yet, starting my new gym in early december. im gonna continue working at my current gym for the remaining week or two. god i cant wait to work at the new gym lool. but my coach worked with me with the basics over and over again, i'm going to listen to his advice as far as the basic one-two's. i dont have time to train at my current gym, my mom and grandma always gets worried sick when i come back at 9:00 at night .

i'll defenently go in fighting (i feel confident for some reason) i always keep my guard down with the basic stance so i'll try out the peek-a-boo style.

That was an unnecessary beatdown you should ask your coach why he tought you where ready for that fight and if the governement gives him a check for mental ******ation.

he knew that i wanted to compete for a long time, since im going to another gym he thought he might as well let me compete in the intergym competition. i wanted to, i wanted to learn what level I was at and learn from this particular experience.

and i didn't want the coach to stop, i mean who wants your coach to throw in the towel when you're in the ring?

The thing with infighting is, you have to get in and fight....
to get inside you need good headmovement, speed and good combination punching.
                      Your coach taught you neither...
You will eat unnecessary punishment on you way "in".

You can still fight as a pressure fighter without being a "insidefighter" lol.
As I said FLICKER over simplified it.
You say you coach is teaching you the basic 1-2 most of the times yet the guy hasn't corrected you on your punch extension....

You need to stop "thinking" your punches. You can go "now I jab, Now i throw a right hand" in your mind, you should just do them and not care about "perfect form".
That actually messes your "form" and technique up, makes it robotic.
As I said the only thing I can think of is changing gym and working on some things on your own while you still are there.
Like head movement, trained that at home
