    Genetics.

Also training the abs as with any muscles adds direct resistance to the area you are attempting to tone, how many times have you seen guys on the beach with a beer gut but toned arms and shoulders?, therefore to assist the burning of fat around the middle you must train your abs!
    Wrong.

Doing ab work won't burn fat in one area. Their is no such thing as spot reduction. You can't lose fat in one section.

If you have a gut, doing ab work won't do anything for you. You need to get your diet in check, and do some cardio.

    yeah..

how do u check ur body fat percentage?
    Bodyfat calipers.

One common mistake though is people forget that the abdominals are a muscle. Don't just do countless sit-ups, do 20 at most. If you can do more than that (as most people can), then add resistance by holding a dumbbell in your arms or a weight plate, and then when you can do say 20 on this, then add more. Think of it this way, would you do a bicep curl with no weight? Would you do 50+ bench presses in a set? No, so why do it for abs.

in one way cause you will be burning calories to which will lower your all round bodyfat percentage(with proper diet) but if you have a high bodyfat percentage your abs wont show.

the key to having nice visible abs is through diet but for us athletes we want strong hard abs and core which is why we need to do all the sit ups, crunches leg raises, torso twists to build it up and the low body fat should come along with the intense training AND proper diet

No, to tone the area you must incorporate abs into your workout, read the post. Hence after I mention cardio and diet then I mentioned ab training to assist the process.

I have to say the guy in the video is a moron, "situps have nothing to do with it"

I'm 130lbs, a very fast metabolism, and a body fat percentage of about 5.2% which pretty low and sorry to say, but I dont have an 8 pack, you need a minimum of 3% body fat to help regulate and maintain the flow of hormones and testoserone..

If your overweight, of course dieting and doing a ton of cardio will help reveil your hiddin abs that is under that layer of fat - but just because you lose fat isnt magically going to give you a solid 6 or 8 pack..

If you already maintain a low body fat percentage, and you dont do situps or workout your abs in anyway, you will be decently cut and define, but you wont have a solid 6-8 pack unless you have great genetics, other than that all muscles have to be built, thats done by working them out (situps, weighted situps, medicine ball ect), they will tear and repair as stronger and over time, bigger..

Lets say this, Roy Jones and Mayweather have fast metabolisms and a low body fat percentage, do you think they would have the abs they have today without doing situps or working them out?

                  HELL NO

What he says is true. Theres an old bodybuilding saying "Abs are made in the kitchen."

Situps and stomach exercises are the last thing you need to worry about. Diet and fat burning is what gets you abs. But don't be fooled in to thinking that everyone with a great stomach, diets and burns fat. Genetics is a big factor as well, some people have 6 packs and eat pizza every day.
