I would say Vargas was able to "go out on his sheild" because he was younger and took less punishment prior.

The wear and tear of boxing ages you. The longer you are in it, at some point when you are near your breaking point, fighting in a war, your mind will be a little more accepting of calling it a day.


It is funny to see how everybody is protection Morales for his loss, but when it was Kostya Tszyu, people ripped him to shreds.

Lets take the two of them:

Morales: 29, but is older because of the wars

Kostya: 35 (at the time of Hatton fight), but went through 2 surgeries from injuries and had been inactive for a few years.

Morales: struggled to make weight...a crucial point since if you don't feel healthy going into a fight, it plays with your mind.

Kostya: struggled to make 140, just not as bad as Morales had to, but in a fight against a young pressure fighter, it is a *****.

Morales: went into the third before ending it

Kostya: went 11 rounds, while breathing through his mouth in about the 5th round...had to take many punches with his mouth open and near exhaustion.
In one of the rounds, he took a shot to the Testicles that basically finished him off, and would of most likely finished anybody off.

Acually you forgot the major differnce of these two, people who admittly said, "Morales is past his prime" as where to Tszyu, "he is still on good enough terms to best hatton." And Tszyu didn't have the loses Morales did.

Tszyu didn't take the wars that Morales had and Tszyu had more left then did Morales. You said it yourself, boxing ages you, doesn't matter your age.

What would happen if he contuined til the end and he had some brain damage would you be happy.

as for the 3years back morales is something you cant tell either. you cant because he would have fough the same way because he have too much pride not to step back. so i think this version of pac would win the 3 year back morales but for Barrera is a different sotry he plays it smart and know what he wants to do.

I aggree 3 years ago, Morales would not have surrendered, but 3 years ago, Morales would have won. Just two fights ago he did win.

People change over time. Age and wars will wear you down and make you think differently.

When you are young, you stick out your chest, grab your balls, and tell the other guy to go **** himself...but as the years pass, many wars have been fought, you fatigue both mentally and physically.

There is a story of Alexander the Great's men, who were some of the best, if not the best, soldiers in the world at the time...they fought many years, many long battles, never gave up no matter what they came up against, but to many years of battle was enough for them to want to turn around and go home.

Of course Alexander didn't want to go home and was a crazy **** at that, but case in point, even the best break down over time.
