Ray has not been too involved with the whole arrangement, and looks like, though he said, he would become better involved this time, such involvement will not happen in the foreseeable future.

Don King is no spring chicken. His heirs are not as clever as the Don.

For the long haul, Golden Boy could be good for Pac. MAB, GBP's mainstay outside of Oscar himself, has only few more fights left in him. Two to three years, and I think he'll say his done. Oscar can hang 'em up anytime. Pac may be eyed to take up the slack.
I agree, I think Top Rank and GBP are the 2 options and i'll go with GBP.

The beauty of being with Golden boy is like someone said a bit earlier, Oscar is not afraid to let his fighters fight whoever they need to fight to elevate themselves-even if it is a huge risk. HE is not worried about one of his cash cows losing-he understands thats the nature of the beast...other promoters give us big fights too but usually they are a few years after they should have taken place because the Arums/Kings of the world are mismatching their repsective guys so they can get as much money out of them as possible before it is cross your fingers time against the big time.

Look at MAB...on top of the world a top 5 p4per and he signs with OScar and goes right after Manny...All the while what was Bob Arum doing with Erik Morales-they were putting on payperviews against Guty Espada and Carlos Hernandez.

Oscar can afford to do this-he maybe the richest promoter in the game and he has been at this for a few years....the money was quite apparent in the recent Hopkins purse bid where Oscar bid over 4 million for the fight and neither Don King or Bob Arum went over 1.8 million...as I said in an earlier post...this purse bid represents a changing of the guard...it is a slow process but I can't see how this process is going to be stoppped.

yeah man, that's true, as long as oscar will not play favoritism, you know..i mean keeping his latino brothers out of the way to meet pacquiao, like barrera..

The smartest move possible for the Pacman, save for Top Rank. It has become apparent that Murad Muhammad can get leverage with regards to fighters like Lucero and Ledwaba, but Pacquiao will continue to get the short purses and bad decisions as long as he is with a small time promoter. With Barrera being represented by Golden Boy, a rematch is much easier to make. I still feel that his best shot would be to sign with Bob Arum, who currently represents Erik Morales and Juan Manuel Marquez. But Golden Boy is a close second.
