Sugar Ray Leonard's company started out with big hopes and great intentions. Since then it has nose-dived. Ray has not been too involved with the whole arrangement, and looks like, though he said, he would become better involved this time, such involvement will not happen in the foreseeable future.
Don King is no spring chicken. His heirs are not as clever as the Don.
For the long haul, Golden Boy could be good for Pac. MAB, GBP's mainstay outside of Oscar himself, has only few more fights left in him. Two to three years, and I think he'll say his done. Oscar can hang 'em up anytime. Pac may be eyed to take up the slack.

the question would be: if he joins golden boy promotions, then would it mean goodbye to pac-mab 2?

Pac could very well be made MAB's last hurrah! Making it so, would add much to Marco's retirement stash. Over the next two to three years, MAB can face easier ones; while Pac stays busy with such guys as Morales, Chi (or, whoever shall be there for unification if Pac wins vs. JMM), Rocky, Joan, Scott, Larios, etc.
All these are predicated on that both Pac and MAB continue their winning ways.
The rub is if Marco won't make Pac his last outing because he doesn't want to go out a loser. Or, if Marco won't face Pac ever again because he fears his record might be stained some more.
But then, if MAB has those kinds of thinking, a Pac-MAB 2 wont happen either even if Pac does not go to GBP.Last edited by grayfist; 12-22-2004, 01:11 AM.

i think u got a good point here, everybody else oscar has signed to GBP is two or three fights away from retiring - mosley, hops, mab. GBP needs manny because he's long term, his career is just gettin started.
