I don’t give guys too much flack for that cuz Canelo clearly has really good pop on his punch. His shots are super sharp and he hits hard. Even if he doesn’t get the KO all the time or as much as other guys, he’s damaging guys. There’s a reason why opponents give Canelo tons of respect.

It takes someone with a world class chin to step to Canelo and really trade with him. Smith did it in spots and had some success. To do it and trade with him the whole fight, the only guy I’ve seen do it is GGG to tell you the truth. Most guys don’t want to engage a guy like Canelo.

And now at this point of GGG’s career I don’t think he could go the full 12 with Canelo. He might be able to, but it might play out very similar to the match we just saw.

I see your points, but Canelo outlanded Smith by like 120 punches. Even in fight 2, GGG outlanded Canelo by 30. I don't think things would shift in a fight 3 that much.

Canelo looks better to me every time out though. Chalk it up to whatever you want, but I think he does improve himself almost every fight.

Kills him... ***in lool, ginger pillow fists couldn't even kill Callum Smith. He couldn't even drop Daniel Jacobs - Golovkin sat his ass down in the 4th! This new muscular G looks even more powerful and would put a hurt on Canelo with that power jab.

I’m not sure how you’re making this a debate. I am asking a question in context of how long an average boxing training camp runs.

I did not know that Canelo was negotiating with three other guys nor did I know that Smith’s team had 7 weeks training.

You just corrected my mistake. Now I know.

For a fight of this magnitude most people would want 8-10 weeks so I get Smith was shortchanged.

Part of that is Canelo being sneaky and part of it is Covid and obviously part was Canelo getting out of GBP/DAZN contract.

I don’t understand why people don’t see this. Cripple G last night was winded by the 4th round. Canelo ends his career in May.

If winded means still throwing an array of power jabs, hooks uppercuts & straights and scoring a couple of knockdowns then yes G was winded. Canelo aint ending nothing. Hes very good at fishing out fighters who've shown vulnerabilities or weakness (champion or not) and "daring to be great". Canelo has been ducking a Golovkin trilogy fight for two years now, most probably because facing Golovkin put him under 24 of the most difficult rounds of his career. There is no reason he should be a avoiding a third G fight - if he really wants to prove hes P4P he must beat the guy most people felt he lost to in a convincing fashion but truth is, even at 38 years old Canelo views Golovkin as a high risk fight!

Who the hell else did you want him to fight?

Golovkin... but he really doesn't want to seem to fight him. I wonder why that might be!
