He basically came there to survive. Sold his belts and looked like he was happy surviving. I honestly don’t class that as toughness, considering he came from a boxing family. He was bigger, and meant to be stronger, had height and weight advantages.... Toughness? I would question that.

Well he took plenty of shots well, that’s what I mean, he didn’t look for the floor. Plenty of fighters may not have taken some shots like that.

I don’t necessarily think he tried to survive, he was just badly outclassed.

It’s easy to say fighters should let their hands go more but you still have to find openings and be in position to do it. Canelo is just very good at nullifying guys work rate that way.

Same reason most fighters usual work rate used to get halved by Floyd. Not because they were surviving, they simply couldn’t get in position to get any momentum and throw multiple shots.

Mostly because they’re simply a level or more below.

I’ve been saying he never deserved that belt. He only has one good win in his whole career, in Groves, but Groves was shot, chinny and ready to retire. Apart from that Smith never actually beat anyone world class.

Dude. Beterbiev is not to big for Canelo and not only is Canelo's chin the best but he is also faster than beterbiev.

Starting to think he took a dive

Callum Smith didn’t take that hellacious beating just for the hell of it. He tried his best to win but Canelo was too good. Smith tried to get his jab going but Canelo took it away. He tried to land big shots in exchanges but Canelo punished him repeatedly for opening up. After that he tried to counter off the ropes but Canelo simply hammered Smith’s arms to negate that. To say Callum Smith took a dive is disrespectful to both fighters.
