I see your points, but Canelo outlanded Smith by like 120 punches. Even in fight 2, GGG outlanded Canelo by 30. I don't think things would shift in a fight 3 that much.

Canelo looks better to me every time out though. Chalk it up to whatever you want, but I think he does improve himself almost every fight.

I agree. Canelo seems to always be in range when he wants to punch. Good balance. Power. In a lot of ways, it’s how GGG was when he was coming onto the scene on HBO back in 2012.

This is the first time in years I'm giving credit to Canelo for a win (lost both times to GGG for me and most others fans, Fielding is a joke and fought a badly injured Kovalev who himself admitted he wasn't looking to win)

Damn Callum Smith laid an egg in San Antonio he literally offered nothing he was fighting short for what reason he is a terrible inside fighter he should've followed the Kovalev approach with the jab and punch from the outside but he just couldn't do it. His smaller brother showed more heart than he did against Canelo and gave a better fight Liam Smith at least went out on his shield Big Smith just kept looking at the clock to see if it was over already.

Canelo looked good but he fought someone who offered nothing in return just like the Golovkin fight my bet is Smith struggled to make weight and he will be at 175 next. I think at this point the only potential fighters who can give Canelo a decent fight are Jermall Charlo and Dmitry Bivol both have great jabs and ring generalship and both seem to take a good punch. I think Canelo wrecks Plant and BJS and I honestly thinks he beats Benavidez too because he has a tendency to pull back with his hands down and head upright but it would still be a good fight and you can guarantee Benavidez would go out swinging unlike Callum.

As with Lance, I am dismayed by the public and media reaction to Canelo--with rare exceptions. Very few people want to challenge the Canelo-As-Superman fairy tale, instead they oooh and ahh over his performances, ascribing his increasingly dominant wins to (he's been a pro since 2005) a late-career surge in skill, glossing over the fact that he division-hops at will, changing his body as he pleases, that stamina has gone from deficit to strength, that his bodyfat % is lower at 168 than it was at 154, that his neck and traps are cartoonishly large, that he now gets freakishly beet-red with exertion, yada yada yada.

Will a boxing version of David Walsh ever pull back the curtain on this fantasy? I wonder...

Canelo signed up for year-round VADA after his trace amounts of clenbuterol.

He has tested and proven clean more times than the vast majority of professional boxers out there.

He couldn't fight Golovkin, because Golovkin chose to fight Szeremeta instead (before the IBF had even ordered a mandatory defense.)

So...Canelo tried to fight Golovkin. Then tried to fight Billy Joe Saunders. Then tried to fight Caleb Plant.

When they all couldn't happen he chose the Ring champion at 168 lbs.

Yet that's STILL not good enough for some of you.

Szeremeta fought on the undercard of Golovkin vs Sergey Dereveyenchenko and there was an agreement that the winner would defend against Szeremeta as he was the IBF number 3 fighter with positions 1 and two being vacant. Although it wasn't a forced mandatory there was a business deal done in principle. To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if Canelo knew this - knowing that Golovkin was tied up and with DAZN relentlessly trying to force the trilogy he attempted to make the fight knowing full well it couldn't materialize.
