Why ppl say Kovalev is washed when both of his Ward losses were controversial?

thats weird to me.
both the ward losses were marred by controversy. and he avenged his KO loss to alvarez.

Canelo is bad, for selecting old Kovalev... instead of selecting old Golovkin

No controversy
The reason people say Kovalev is washed up is the Alvarez KO and Yarde almost TKOing Kovalev as well.
In a span of like 6 fights he went from KRUSHER to chinny and capable of being hurt/stopped. The guy can still box great and has a tremendous jab/right hand
This is a great fight we're getting on Saturday

Yes it was from a counter jab, but I think that tells to how physically exhausted Yarde was, and less to how powerful Kovalev is. We use “washed” up relative to someone’s prime. It’s not really a fair term, but the better someone once was the the more we notice and jump on someone when they decline. No fighter can improve as fast as they slip.
