Please don't act ridiculous. He almost got knocked out by a guy he would have beaten in 2 rounds 3 years ago.

      thats weird to me.

both the ward losses were marred by controversy. and he avenged his KO loss to alvarez.

how exactly is he washed up??
It was only a controversy to the sore losers.

Because he was badly knocked out by Alvarez who is not known to be a KO artist. thats when people were saying he was done/washed up. Not after the Ward fights...

I thought he won the first fight but he let Ward back into it. I'm not taking away from Ward because he worked to get back in the fight but it was my distinct impression that Kovalev could have done more after the knockdown. I didn't like his response in that fight. I didn't like his response after he got hurt by Ward in the second fight. I thought it was stopped on a low blow and the referee made a bad call but it looked to me that Kovalev was on his way to losing. The the KO in his next fight and then almost getting stopped by Yarde. There are a lot of reasons why people think he isn't as good as he was a few years ago.

Canelo is bad, for selecting old Kovalev... instead of selecting old Golovkin

thats what it ultimately boils down to for me. a whole bunch of canelo haters not wanting to give him props if he pulls this off. . meanwhile those same idiots are begging canelo to fight triple flop who they also claim is washed up too.

                No controversy

The reason people say Kovalev is washed up is the Alvarez KO and Yarde almost TKOing Kovalev as well.

In a span of like 6 fights he went from KRUSHER to chinny and capable of being hurt/stopped. The guy can still box great and has a tremendous jab/right hand

This is a great fight we're getting on Saturday
what? both ward fights are controversial.

nope. ima ward fan and both those fights were questionable. the rematch was ruined by the ref because he stopped it after low blows.

Yes it was from a counter jab, but I think that tells to how physically exhausted Yarde was, and less to how powerful Kovalev is. We use “washed” up relative to someone’s prime. It’s not really a fair term, but the better someone once was the the more we notice and jump on someone when they decline. No fighter can improve as fast as they slip.
I wouldn’t say kovalev is washed up, but a prime kovalev ain’t going life or death with yarde.
