I agree, but I think Ward's counter game and the ability to pick guys apart was much better. He has parts of his game which definitely are similar to Ward, thought he got a bit lucky with the ref allowing the pushing thing.

I'm fine with people calling Josh dirty if they can do the same for Ward, especially when Ward did KO someone from lowblows and the double leg takedown attempts. Fair is fair, right?

Taylor is still very good though - what I saw tonight was a better boxer in Prograis just being outgutted and ultimately outhustled by a guy who just refused to accept that he was outskilled.
They're unnecessary cheap shots. Hit him when the fight is on, not after the bell. That's just sucker punch.

Taylor won. I had it 7-5. Prograis is soft and he has himself to blame for taking rds 5-9 off when he clearly had the momentum. He was killing Taylor with those body shots and jab but decided to fight on the backfoot for whatever reason and allowed Taylor to impose himself on the fight.

Regardless, I don't think both can beat the aggressive Ramirez and his left hooks. Taylor just lacks the skill and defense. And Prograis is soft.

Dirty fighters are the ones that get away with it.

Ward probably got away with the most throughout his career.

Who are your top 5 dirty fighters of the law 5 years?
And where did I say that? I just don't see any reason for the cheap shots.

          Last 5 yrs:

          Antonio Margarito
          Josh Taylor
          Abner Mares,
          Timothy Bradley
          Andre Ward

Margarito for the hand wraps I guess because he wasn't a particularly a dirty fighter.

              How was Bradley dirty?

If fighters get away with cheap shots they are going to keep doing them.

              No mention of Salido?

Why do you think the fighters get away with them.

Man, I don't think either of those boys are soft. I think Taylor just had that little bit more dog in him when it came down to it, possibly because he'd been deep before. But yeah, I'm never gonna like the dirty bull****, but in a fight this close you never know, the slightest thing can tip the balance, even letting 'em know that you'll try ish they wouldn't want to risk. It's not good and it's not pretty but it is a part of the game.

Honestly though, no. I think either would have a very good shot against Ramirez... you might find this odd, but I reckon Regis would actually beat him fairly handily although I can see a grueling war between Ramirez and Taylor that would probably get scored to the guy with the home advantage.

If you don't have a problem with a boxer wearing hand wraps, then there's something wrong with you. That fight destroyed Cotto and he was never the same after that.

Bradley leads with his huge head and he's notorious for headbutting opponents.

With the other boxers - their antics happened during the fight and they could argue that there's no malicious intent. However, for a boxer to keep taking cheap shots after the bell, there's absolutely no way you can argue that there was no malicious intent.

You might be right. I just don't think Prograis showed enough dog in him to win that fight. He had Taylor on ropes and he was wearing him down with those slick body shots and short jabs. And at one point - Taylor looked gassed by those body shots and looked to his corner. All Prograis had to do was keep doing it and it would've opened Taylor up-top for Prograis' signature left, but for whatever reason, he decided to start boxing on the backfoot against the taller guy with the height and reach advantage. That was what cost him the fight.

I dunno but Ramirez is too aggressive for both of them and the guy throws those left hooks in bunches. And I doubt Taylor would have any answers for that. As for Prograis, I don't think he has enough dog in him to go 12rds with Ramirez.
