Comments Thread For: Nacho: Golovkin Wasn't in Condition, He Lacked a Corner - Not Age

Hall of Fame trainer Ignacio "Nacho" Beristain ruled out that it was age that affected Gennadiy Golovkin last Saturday night at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Golovkin had his fair share of struggles and barely escaped the jaws of defeat, in winning a very close twelve round unanimous decision over Sergiy Derevyanchenko. The victory gave Golovkin the vacant IBF, IBO middleweight titles.

Interesting take from an expert. He could be right.

    Golovkin was definitely abnormally fragile.

Nah, he’s just a bum who was picking on small fighters. Once he stepped up to someone his own size, he got an ass whooping and a gift. The only great small fighter that gave him the blues was Emperor Canelo. Although I strongly believe Jacobs exposed him first.

I never took Banks seriously as a full trainer. He was good at his role as an assistant trainer to Stewart. Even during his time with Wlad, I could never take Banks seriously as a trainer.

So I agree with Nacho, with the qualification that GGG himself isn't that good as a boxer and never was, IMO.

It's that new money he got. Like the old saying goes, "It's tough to get out of bed to do roadwork at 5 am when you've been sleeping in silk pajamas."

Well if that is the case then he needs to fire his trainer because a fighter shouldn't be allowed to train himself or when he gets ready to train.

He trains when and how his coach wants and tells him to train. If you are not going to listen to your coach then what the Hell are you paying him for then?

Well don't you agree that if Gennady is not going to listen to his trainer then he doesn't need him and should fire him? What is he paying Banks for if he is not going to follow his instructions?

                All these hating ass trainers

Don’t hate on JB because his dam opponent was good and he’s showing signs of an aging fighter! JB was calm and making it simple he can’t make the dam fighter do the s_it. If GGG had won by ok then everyone would be on JB nuts saying how he changed him and Abel wasn’t any good for him. JB love boxing and has a heart for it, all these haters trying to get in GGG ear so they can jockey for the same job.

Bro, what was Banks specifically telling GGG to do to avoid that robbery win and win the fight legitimately? I might have missed those instructions.
