Let's just call it how it is: Canelo is only fighting Kovalev because he is old

I thought Canelo won but it was a close fight. I have a friend whose opinion I respect and who was at the fight, who thought Lara won. He said that the body shots that Canelo was landing, the punches that I thought swung the fight, did not seem that hard or effective in person.

Either way, it was a close fight, nobody got destroyed.

Sometimes I honestly have to wonder if people have rewatched the fight without commentary as I've posted above (turn sound low) or if the only ppl who think lara won just hate Nelo?, because I just cannot possibly score it for Lara when everything he threw hit arms/gloves or was dodged by a fighter attacking him the whole fight with powerful hooks to the tumtum & clean 1-2 combo potshots all day long,I genuinely would like to know what rds lara won & why because this fight wasn't close imho,I think trout did a better job than Lara basically vs young nelo & he lost clearly in open scoring.

I urge ANYONE who says I'm being a blind nuthugger to rewatch the fight with sound low & be honest,& I cannot see how you can think Lara came close to winning (remember using 4 OFFICIAL criteria of PRO scoring,& to score every rd based on how effective a fighter is at showing hes the more effective aggressor who punches the most cleanly the most often while avoiding being punched cleanly)

I give you props for at least being honest unlike others who try to bully someone outta saying the truth merely because I'm a big canelo fan(I am at least consistent in my standards across the board)

How can a ggg fan that says Canelo lost the 1st fight say Lara did even remotely comparable or that he actually landed or imposed his will on nelo? Thats all I've been saying but peeps try shameing me for it

Would any of you guys seriously think Canelo would try to fight a 30 year old Kovalev? The one that was destroying Pascal and dropping Ward? Hell no...

And if you do think that...why isn't he mentioning any of the other active but younger champions at light Heavyweight like Bivol? Bivol is at DAZN as well so that fight would be easier to make. It's because Kovalev is old now, that's why...

In the initial discussions for the fight in September, Golden Boy president Eric Gomez told ESPN that Alvarez wouldn't seek a catch weight to try to drain Kovalev below the 175-pound division limit.

Haven't heard anything about a rehydration clause. Does anyone know what Kovalev's fight night weight is? I found this information but it's from 2014 If you go by these numbers it shouldn't be hard for Kovalev to stay within the standard 10lbs clause.

It's clear he's fighting Kovalev because he wants to be a 4 division champion and he's a big name that DAZN has approved. No one knows who Bivol is, to the casual fan fighting Bivol is no different than fighting Fielding.

This is the part I don't like. It's bad enough with multiple champs in every division, but we know he's not going to defend it so the situation just gets more confused and there is even less meaning in titles.

Pac was guilty of this, so was Floyd and Roy Jones and down the line.
