Bivol is undefeated, barely ever lost a round his entire career, never been on the deck either. Beterbiev is undefeated, barely ever lost a round his entire career, been on the deck twice but never close to stopped. Gvozdyk is undefeated, coming off one of the best wins in the sport a KO vs Stevenson (who for some reason aged better than Kovalev, still wasn't at his peak but was in good form and his chin held up to the 11th round).

Kovalev has been stopped twice in his last 6 fights. Not only that, his stamina, and then his chin, gave way halfway through the fight. He doesn't just gas, he gasses early. The fact 40 year old Stevenson had twice the gas tank of Kovalev vs Ward and Alvarez I tells you just how vulnerable is compared to the other champs right now.

Beterbiev is 34. Gvozdyk is 32. When Canelo fights them 3-4 years from now when Beterbiev is 37-38 and Gvozdyk is 35-36 (you know, GGG-age!), there's a very fair chance that Canelo will win a close decision against them.

All hail Canelo the GOAT. Middleweight, super middleweight, AND future light heavyweight KING of our era. Fighter of the decade (next to Ward), and THE fighter of the post-Ward era, his era, the Canelo era.
      Not sure if being serious...
Nvm. I saw your post above afterwards.

It's pretty bad. He has level-headed fans but some put him on such a high pedestal.

We're miles away from that. He hasn't even gotten through the 2nd of those 3 fights.

Why? Jacobs is old at 160, Kovalev is old period. What makes a struggling to make weight Jacobs better than a healthy comfortable Nicholas Walters, other than Canelo keeps squeaking by these fights 7-5 but Lomachenko is shutting out then stopping or no masing guys like Walters, GRJ, Linares etc.

We need to stop looking at boxing through this North American centric prism, or even the prism of the moment. FOTD is supposed to be an award for history. When boxing historians look back at the 2010-2020 decade, the standouts historically, and the stand out performances, that they're going to be talking about are Manny Pacquiao and Lomachenko. They might talk about GGG's talent, but the lack of big fights in his prime will hinder that. They might talk about Canelo's star power and all the big names he fought, but the fact they were usually not at their best, and the fact he still barely beat him, will have them looking at Canelo as more of a big name than a top boxer historically. They might admire Ward's talent but the corruption involved with the Kovalev fights, while ignored today, won't be ignored by unbiased historians and that will put an asterisk next to his name. And other than Kovalev, Ward was a one weight champion who didn't even fight the most stylistically difficult opponents for him at 168.

He hasn't gotten as many opportunities to fight big name opponents as Canelo or Ward, but Lomachenko is the standout fighter of the decade, the one who is even changing the sport itself, evolving it in some sense. That's what FOTD should probably be. Other than him, the amount of wars, excitement, top fighters beaten, etc etc, all in his thirties, by Manny Pacquiao, is also a historic achievement, also something rare and new in a sense, so he has an equal claim to the title. Canelo should never even enter into the discussion. Give him the "avoid your biggest rival until he's old and take PEDs" award for the decade, that sounds more accurate.

Past prime Kovalev. I can't wait to see what the rehydration clause for Kovalev is lol.

Canelo is not a spring chicken dude. He is quite a bit older physically than his chronological age, he often wear a knee brace and pretty sure he has other signs of wear and tear on his body now, as one should if they've been fighting pro since 16.

i'd estimate that physically Canelo is around 32 himself I've always said I think he'll be over the hill by the time he reaches age 33-34. Especially If he keeps takin on opponents that are much bigger than him naturally.

At age 25 Canelo was at 154. So I don't care what he blows up to in between fights. He's still naturally a LMW imo. So him fighting at these higher weights is part him just wanting to push his limits while the other part of it is just him being too lazy to make weight.

People on here are some ignorant hating ass fools. Same people criticizing it are the same people who give Errol Spence props for beating Mikey and have him on a P4P list. Kovalev although not in his prime is a legit belt holder and outclassed the same boxer who brutally knocked him out. He arguably beat one of the greatest fighters of this generation in Ward. Canelo will never get the respect he rightfully deserves but real people with understanding of the sport know that he's a special fighter who doesn't come along very often.

If he put a rehydration clause on Jacobs he will not have a straight shootout at 175

Don't understand the hate for this fight. Kovalev is no less than a top 4 fighter at lhw, a champion, and is coming off an impressive win to become champ. He's much bigger and more powerful than canelo with real light heavy power. Yes he might be past prime but he'd still pose a real threat against the rest of the champs in the division. He's by far the most proven and experienced at the top level of the bunch and his rematch against Eleider proved that he's still among the best. Unless there's an absolutely outrageous weight stipulation canelo deserves props for demanding this fight.
