Honestly, I can't blame him (though I do hate him). He made a pitch to ESPN, they accepted. He's growing their brand nicely (ESPN+) with good fights. It would be treason to let Loma or Crawford go to Showtime! What I wish they would do is make a trade! Spence comes to ESPN for Crawford, and Lomachenko goes to Showtime for Mikey! Everybody wins!

First off, huge Lomachenko fan, guys unbelievable. I know hes not afraid of Mikey. Mikey is probably right about Arum allowing a fight with him. Loma could force Arums hand, but it ain't happening this fall. As far as Lomachenko wiping the floor with Mikey, that ain't happening. Lomachenko gave up 15 lbs to Linares on fight night, and he had his hands full. No disrespect to Linares, hes a good lightweight, but he ain't Mikey Garcia. Who is bigger than Linares. There a weight ceiling for all fighters, Lomachenko is pushing his at 135. Mikey may be exceeding his at 147. Henry Armstrong met his at 160, Sugar Ray Robinson at 175, Oscar De La Hoya at 160. Some summits can't be reached when great little guys, fight great bigger guys.

I can’t speak for Arum but I know there was not a fan on here that thought Loma was more overrated than me. He has grudgingly made me a believer. Mikey hasn’t made me see the light that’s all I’m saying..... I’m sorry Mexico
🎺🎺 yes he is American I know✌🏿

Mikey had a bitter falling out with top rank, there is no way arum will risk one of his two biggest names to lose to somebody who left his promotional company, because he won't benefit financially from Mikey beyond that 1 fight. Just check Pacquiao's career since he signed with arum & see how many guys he fought that weren't somehow connected to top rank.

I'd like to see both Mikey and Loma push for the fight more. I dislike Arum and we know Mikey has the history there. But the attempt to establish the 'Mikey needs a huge challenge, that's how he's always been!' narrative is laughable, especially because it's from the same people who have always given him props for his intelligence and understanding of the boxing business. Now people want to pretend he's just chasing Spence for reasons of legacy and daring to be great and it has nothing to do with money.
This is a guy who had an offer to fight Linares and achieve the most significant win of his career, and he turned it down to jump up in weight because it was bigger money, nothing to do with being a great opponent major challenge as Lipinets does not match that description. Then acted all disappointed that Loma got to Linares first. We all mock Bob's 'yesterday I was lying, today I'm telling the truth' but with Mikey are supposed to believe 'previously I chose a pointless higher weight money fight over facing the top guy in my division, but today I'm GENUINELY doing it for legacy and not money'
He has been happy to fight the Zlaticanin, Lipinets types before but now Loma isn't available he can't bear to have another fight like that while trying to make a deal for April in the meantime? Guys like Arum and Hearn are snakes and love to do the 'OK we can do the fight but let's do a deal where they both have a build-up fight first to marinate' tactic, but he can avoid that by making a deal now for early 2019.
I also sense that if, after Mikey gets KTFO by Spence, then he moves back down and faces Loma at some point in 2019, the deluded Mikey fans will all say 'told you so, he wasn't scared of Loma!' rather than accept that they've been proven wrong and that actually he could've done a deal to face Loma and was just selling his 0 first to ensure he gets 2 paydays instead of 1.
Some people are acting like Mikey is a coward or has a particular fear of Loma, I don't see it that way. He's a smart guy and, like Khan deciding he may as well get the Canelo payday before facing big threats in his own division, is just playing the risk/reward game, he's put both fear and ego aside, thought over his options and made his choice.
For Loma, he's just had a serious surgery but either his body is ready for a tough fight or it isn't. Mikey is much better than Beltran but Beltran isn't a tomato can, if your shoulder isn't 100% then you shouldn't be facing a bigger, stronger guy who will put on 12 rounds of tough pressure. Doesn't matter if Beltran can't land a punch, it would only take one rough clinch to cause major damage if the shoulder isn't healed right and then you could lose the fight or be out a long time afterwards recovering. But OK let's say he is doing that fight no matter what, Loma will have heard all this Spence talk, he needs to be thinking that the Mikey fight might be heading away from him and never coming back and push his promoter or reach out to Mikey direct or whatever he needs to do to make it happen. Whether it's for December or the fight after that get something done. I like how Loma has pursued meaningful fights, and Garcia would be the most meaningful yet by some distance, he can't let it slip by without pushing for it.
I don't expect a fighter to be able to make any fight happen just by trying their best to get it. But I give a lot more credit to Wilder because he kept going for the AJ fight. He didn't just say 'well Hearn will never make it so I won't even try'. I expect the same from Mikey and Loma here.Last edited by Clegg; 08-02-2018, 07:11 AM.
