From making the move to sign Floyd for those 6 fights to close out his career, Showtime has backed Haymon and his fighters, almost without waver.

Daniel Jacobs went to HBO, but it took a 3-5 fight deal (depending on what you hear, the deal was for three guaranteed fights, with options for another 4 fights) and a seemingly handshake that he gets a Canelo fight too. Showtime couldn't get near matching that, so Jacobs left and Showtime didn't trash his name on the way out either.

You got to weigh out the whole package before making a move.

DAZN isn't a promoter; they're a platform that's trying to build and looking for fights.

When the attempted Haymon raid doesn't work out, DAZN won't care about anything but the fact that Eddie Hearn promised them 32 shows a year.

It could be PBC as we knew it doesn't exist anymore and DAZN and PBC aren't even competitors now.

And Haymon would be wise to hitch his massive roster to the wagon with the most money and currently aligned to a more future aimed platform.
The Showtime app already has 2m+ users; depending on the rates, it's generated $250m+ a year. Full and live access to the channel, full access to the library, and I believe you can even order the PPV digitally from it. You add that Showtime/CBS has made boxing a key part of their sports package, and it doesn't make sense to cut Showtime out (already in 25m homes, streaming app is being adopted at a consistent clip, CBS having complete reach in the US, boxing budget strong, etc).

And even taking into account w/e PBC is currently Haymon isn't doing his job as a manager if his fighters are receiving offers for more money & similar or better future opponents & not advising his fighters that that could be the superior deal for them as it would seem to be for a % of Haymon managed fighters.

Isn't he still with Duva? If he's a free agent or will be soon I suspect he will go after him, but if not I don't see the point.

But I am sure there are guys who are free agents or near free agent status that Hearn will be picking up this year if the money is as good as advised cuz this DAZN thing would seem like a decent enough opportunity for most boxers on the cusp of the big time, but behind the old heads that TV channels don't like pushing out of the way too soon exactly either.
Depending on who you believe, Haymon helped Jacobs make the HBO deal, because it was clearly the best deal for Jacobs.

We can argue the point but folks are projecting a lot of stuff on DAZN that doesn't exist yet. For whatever money that Eddie Hearn has, he's hawking a platform that is available in near zero homes in the US. If I'm Jermall Charlo (fighting for good money, arguably one fight away from his shot at the WBC middleweight title, a good enough profile built over the years with Showtime and PBC), do I give up what I've started to build for a bigger bag now that 1)puts me on a platform being built from scratch and 2)separates me from the chance to fight Alvarez, Jacobs, Golovkin, and Saunders?

Maybe, but it have to be for Tim Bradley money and he'd have to have a good bit of Tim Bradley in him (Bradley had his run at 140lbs, the interest was building even with his style, and he turned that into the deal to fight Pacquiao. Once the Pacquiao fight was out of the way, Bradley cleared out his team, kept the camp to being him an his wife, locked in as much guaranteed money as possible, and was basically content to fight whomever Arum put in front of him, with no real ambition for anything else).

How many live Boxing cards do they have a month, 2? Lets say September DAZN say weve got Thurmans return card, Joshua/Povetkin, Groves/Smith, and 4 other WBSS cards, for $15. You don't think a boxing fans going to be saying "Holy ****!"?

Randomly question for anyone: Who's gots the biggest world class stable now? And don't say Haymon cuz Haymon is a manager you f#cking dummies.
In terms of defined promoters, it's Matchroom Sport, an it's not even all that close.

Joshua, Brook, Bellew, Khan, Callum Smith, Yafai, arguably Jamie McDonnell (weight beat him worse than anything Inoue did) and Dillian Whyte at world-level, Joshua Buatsi, Josh Kelly, Joe Cordina and Lawrence Okolie as the pups who may break through, a basic lock on his pick of talent from the tops of Team GB, and a good mix of fighters at British/Euro-level to fill in the shows in the different UK markets.

Most everyone else is either a one fighter shop (Golden Boy, Main Events, K2) or simply still developing fighters (Top Rank).

Depending on how the next month goes, GYM could be sitting with three world champions at 175lbs (WBC champ Stevenson, IBF champ Beterbiev, WBO champ Alvarez) and a good heavyweight prospect, but they'd still be a regional outfit

Charlo already separated from those fights, being on DAZN has him in exactly the same spot. Except Hearn got a **** ton of money to get him those fights.

Plus Kovalev is getting 3 HBO dates this year. Why would Duva want to leave that? Bivol is getting 3 dates this year and Barrera at least two so she is in a decent position. Her problem is her stable has zero depth
The Golden Boy time buy deal is almost up; this is me speculating but HBO Boxing will largely become the exclusive home of The Canelo Show, presented by Canelo Promotions and Golden Boy Promontions. Anything that doesn't feed into a PPV fight with Alvarez would go on the back burner.

DAZN gives Kathy Duva a for sure longer term future, with likely more money to work with; Eddie Hearn satisfies a chunk of what DAZN chose to back him for, and he does so with a name value talent (in an environment where talent isn't simply jumping at his offers).

He's got 16 shows to fill per year; spread it out and you've got a show a month, with two shows for each month of the summer.

Hearn becomes Duva's broadcaster (or simply buys out her company for Matchroom Sport USA) and he fills an easy four shows that first year.

Do you live in the past? Tell me what’s happening now..... I don’t blame you. You are probably an older generation most of the current crop of boxers especially coming out of London I know personally. Sorry let me not exaggerate.... some but enough to get comp tickets at any venue around the country. When you have things at your disposal you don’t necessarily utilise it. I can guarantee you you have idolised boxers that I have punched in the face ( in a fun friendly spar) you are a funny creep. A scouser trying to kick knowledge. I think I’ve heard it all now. Another huge paragraph... looks like someone is “emotional”😢😢

And there is nothing wrong with York Hall, it’s a fantastic venue for boxing at any level. One of the best fights I watched last year was Leon McKenzie vs Cello Renda at York Hall. But you wouldn’t know anything about that cause as I said I’m a REAL fan and you’re a little a*se licking casual.

Older generation? I’m in my 20’s you soft c*nt😂😂 you sound like a little kid though so maybe you’re right.

If you get all these “comp tickets” why don’t you go then you lazy c*nt??🤣🤣
And who is exactly are these boxers who can get you comp tickets anywhere around the country?😭😭😭😭
Cause that ain’t how it works kid, I know you are chatting **** you little c*ckney n*nce.

A boxing fan would be intrigued enough to look for details yes, but not to lose their ****.

It's $15 a month, and you laid out 7 fights/shows; square that circle for me.

A day/night card with Joshua-Povetkin and Thurman-TBA (it's likely to be against a no hoper) would be great for one Saturday. Groves-Smith isn't a fight that'd really hold much resonance to the US fans, and the first round of the WBSS is champs vs TBD.

Even if you finesse it into three shows (Joshua-Povetkin, Groves-Smith, and Thurman-TBA, with each show getting one first round WBSS match and Thurman getting 2), the shows don't end up all that strong anyway.

Quantity is almost always good in boxing, but the fights have to be sorta competitive and good to make that work; the three hour PBC on FS1 card didn't have the greatest look or name fighters, but you had a great KO and a good string of competitive fights that ended up making the night worth the time.

Charlo is building on Showtime, but Haymon has already made it clear that he's not going to block a fighter he works with from heading to HBO to fight if the deal makes sense for his fighter.

HBO isn't sending a fighter that they have signed to a deal anywhere, regardless of how much money Hearn has. And Frank Warren seems even less likely to let his fighter off of BoxNation/BT Sports.
