Comments Thread For: Kovalev: Stevenson a Bull****ter; Don't Believe Anything He Says

Three years after their fight fell apart a second time, the war of words between Sergey Kovalev and Adonis Stevenson continues. Kovalev, bothered by Stevenson's claim earlier this week that Kovalev never wanted their light heavyweight title unification fight, fired back during an interview with Sky Sports.

No matter how much i hate Adonis for his past, i can't fault his Team going for a purse bid, which was called for and ducked by Kovalev's team.

These two guys need to fight each other or shut the fuck up already.

Maybe all this crap talking will lead to another attempt to make the fight should they win their next fights....

For those blaming Kovalev for the fight not happening- The fight would've been MUCH easier to make when they were both on HBO. So as far as I'm concerned, it's Stevenson's fault.

Duva asked to have Kovalev installed as the WBC mandatory, hoping to force settlement discussions. But then Michel refused to negotiate anything, and called for immediate purse bids. Knowing they would lose the purse bid, Duva pulled out because she could risk Kovalev (and her) losing the HBO deal.

So if Adonis wanted the fight…why refuse to negotiate? It was supposed to be a PPV fight, and no PPV in history has been made in a purse bid. They knew that threatening to win the purse bid and put the fight on Showtime was a no-go for Kovalev. So Team Chickenson's push for a purse bid was not an attempt to actually make the fight. It was a way to guarantee the fight didn’t happen.

Imagine if Ward didn't have the balls to move from 168 to 175? What would Kovalev's career look like?

Can you fault him for switching networks to avoid the fight? I do

^ Bingo, not even a discussion. Stevenson and Haymon knew what they were doing. I can't even believe that people dispute this with Haymon's record of match making good fighters against bums....over and over and over and over.

                    PATHETIC!
