    US Gates vs UK Gates

Seeing a lot of hype about 70k-90k people in nosebleed seats making more money than Vegas. People lie, numbers don't so lets have a look!

Disclaimer: I can't fight a lot of gate info for UK so feel free to send some in.

Anthony Joshua vs Vlad Klitschko was all I could find.

    Gate receipts from the 90,000 sell-out crowd - a post-war British record - will generate £8million.

£8m in gate receipts from a record 90,000 crowd.

Source: With Wembley packed to its 90,000 capacity, gate revenue from tickets that ranged from £60 up to £2,200 is calculated to be in the region of £8m.

For those of you that don't know, £9M = 12.7M USD.

Hopkins who was NEVER a PPV guy nor a big draw put 14,345 įsses in seats against Calzaghe in 2008 for 11.6M.

Hopkins vs Hoya 14 years ago did 12.78M with 15,672 people in attendance.

Tyson vs McNeely did 13.9M with 16,113. 1995 man, 23 years ago (LMAO).

Lewis vs Holyfield 2 did 16.8M with 17,078 in 1999, 19 years ago.

If I'm in error here, definitely willing to listen to reason. But from the data I've presented that is readily available, 90k nosebleed cheap seats where you get a free toaster and a fish-n-chip plate for a few quid make a siginificently less gate revenue than what Vegas can do.

I don't see how being in the industry warrants more knowledge that what independant research can do. The numbers are here, let's go! The UK is using that to keep Joshua protected.

So you think Wilder can draw like De La Hoya, Tyson or Lewis? No one has ever denied that the USA has the higher ceiling, just that it would be the most profitable location for Wilder vs Joshua in particular

I always love when people say "The were tickets for the AJ fight that were £2,200-£4000"

but you look at the gate and just think "how many of those tickets were there? 2?"

You don't think he could sell 14,000 tickets? Sold more than that to fight Ortiz, and that wasn't a big Vegas fight. He did 14,000 in NYC with a Kovalev card 5 miles away.

There is absolutely no evidence that Wilder or Joshua can generate $12m+ on the gate or shift 400k+ PPVs in the USA, otherwise Wilder would be getting paid more than $2m per fight already

So you don't think that Wilder could sell just as many tickets as his last fight...

It's not a US ppv fight, that is the problem and all parties involved know it. The sum of the parts says UK ppv plus international tv rights, gate, and sponsorship equal more than what Vegas can deliver at this time.

I knew you guys would turn this thing as soon as the fight became a realistic possibilty. Since January all we've had is you shyts talking about "Why are you talking about numbers, we just want to see the fight".

At the end of the day Wilder is going to be offered 7x his highest pay day.

As Floyd use to say "If you are a $1 million fighter we are going to pay you $3 million, if you are a $5 million fighter we are going to pay you $10 million.

Wilder is a $2 million fighter on his best day. He will probably get $15 million at a similar split to Parker. Which is already utterly ridiculous. If he doesn't take the offer, he's a duck plain and simple.

              Sit the F...ck down!

It's not about gates, it's all about PPV's.

Those Vegas figures were from 14 to 23 years ago. Tyson vs McNeely did 14M gate 23 fłcking years ago. McNeely was a bum!!! AJ vs Wilder can do more, for sure I believe that.

Joshua vs Wilder will do more in Vegas. Joshua fans will pay the money. Look at Calzaghe vs Hopkins, 10 years later the best AJ can do is 1M more than Old Man Hopkins vs Calzaghe in Vegas.

The Telegraph reckons Parker earned £13 million. That's a reputable paper.

                    Cant be sniffed at.
