We've heard the WBA is on a mission to remove redundant titles in all weight classes, but has there ever been discussions among your organizations about a merger?
The WBC, WBA and IBF had several meetings a few years ago to try to establish an undisputed world champion in every weight class. The WBO was invited, but refused to participate.

The idea was that there would be a WBC champion, WBA champion, IBF champion and WBO champion in each weight class, but that these champions would never be referred to as world champions. There would be one world champion recognized by every organization and that world champion would defend against the champions of each organization.

So fighters would still have to climb the rankings of an organization, win regional titles, etc on their way up the ladder towards that organization's championship and by becoming the champion of one of the four organizations, they would become a leading contender to face the undisputed world champion recognized by every organization.

It was a great idea and the WBC, WBA and IBF were all willing to sign on the dotted line if the WBO would sign too. The WBO just wouldn't do it. The WBO wouldn't even meet to discuss it. So the entire deal fell apart and hasn't been discussed since.

Thank Sky Sports for killing the momentum of the IBO (and the WBU for that matter).

When Sky Sports put their foot down and refused to televise IBO, WBU, IBA, NBA, etc champions, it set the IBO way back in terms of gaining acceptance.

This website recognizes the IBO because the IBO pays them to. IBO recognition is a condition of the IBO paying for ads on this website. That is why the IBO is officially a world title according to this website.

No different than the WBO making a huge cash donation to the hall of fame to gain recognition from the hall of fame.

You pointed out nothing. Wilder has beat nobody and isn't a draw. He refuses to build his image in the UK, turning down $4.5 mil to make $1.5 instead. He's also making ridiculous demands like the Joshua fight in the US. His mouth is saying he wants the Joshua fight, his actions say he doesn't.

What you described retains the current organizational structure of the sport, and this potentially dilutes the talent pool threefold (compared to a single governing body). On the plus side, it provides an opportunity for each weight class to determine a true world champion. Why can't the Big 3 just ignore the WBO, etc, and proceed with the unification fights? Does Top Rank and (now) ESPN have that much jam to stop something like that?

You must work for Hearn, nobody cares about a Wilder/Whyte fight. The fight that everybody wants to see is Wilder/Josua.

Wilder rather not take the easy 4 million and go right at Joshua

If that was true he wouldn't have asked for $7 mil instead.

Its called negotiation, we never know what happens in the background. You heard him say that he wants to go straight to Joshua. The only ones clamoring a Wilder/Whyte fight is Hearn and the Joshua fans.

Judging by the early stoppages in the UK it would be concerning to take a fight over there before Joshua

Wait wait wait wait wait, are you insinuating that Deontay Wilder, who just knocked a man out cold in 1 round, and who has called out BOTH undefeated champions since he won the belt...........is afraid.........of Dillan ****ing Whyte? Seriously?

Yea real disappointed this site uses IBO in their storys.Iget the ad part but again this boxing power's being shortsighted.Sure its a little extra money NOW but in long run it just makes boxing less respected and losses fans/webhits.
