I think this stuff needs to stop. Like cobracore, I don't BLAME the fighters, for I would also take advantage of the chance to fight naturally smaller guys, but I think it is hurting the sport...

It is so bogus If a guy is fighting for the 147lb belt and wins it...and leaves the ring weighing 154, whoops bye bye belt, say Hello to a new division.

I feel there should be a maximum weight a fighter can put on after the weigh-in...If he surpasses that he should be fined, do it twice for a bigger fine...3 times either your fighting in a new division or your suspended...

This may be harsh but its really annoying...

IMO boxer's go to extremes to get down to a weight and be able to put more pounds on after the weigh in. To get rehydrated by IV so you can fight the next day is crazy. But the fact of the matter is that the fighters are able to do that, both physicly and within the rules, so they will. If the other guy is going to do it then you should to. Athletes don't give up any advantage they are going to be able to have, especily if the other guy is going to do the same. Why push yourself to train everyday away from home at a trainning camp, giving up junk food, ***, and beer? Why fight at a lowest weight class than you can? Because you will fight 1) smaller guys if you dehydrate and starve yourself 2) fight someone who did the same thing you did. The system is messed up but until it is changed, if ever, you cannot expect a professional athlete to give up an advantage to their opponent.

I think the rules shouldn't be bent just because a promoter says so. Cotto is known for putting weight on quick and will probably be sucking down ghatorades and steak/rice for that remaining perion until the match. Its not fair and this is one of the reasons boxing is considered a 'farce' in some circles

this is a reasonable gripe, for sure. Cotto should certainly benefit from the extra 4 hours, and even if he doesn't it's clear he wants to be a middleweight by fight time.

This fight is going to end in 4 rounds. Regardless. Cotto will come in at 154-156 on fight night. I will put a 20 mil point bet on that. The hours won't do ****. (Which i know it could make a diffrence) But what im trying to say is that Cotto will not pass 160 IMO.

Well... Malignaggi did say that Cotto wont be able to find him... so it shouldn't make a difference right. In fact, the heavier cotto is, the slower he is and the faster he'll tire... Paulie, STOP CRYING and looking for the excuse for when your head comes off.

please tell my how Cotto has garnered this kind of pull already. Outside of New York and Puerto Rico, this match is no bigger than Valuev vs Beck...Gimme a break. I will not watch Cotto PPV unless he an undercard at this point
