Nah .. BJS won it clearly on points. He wanted it more than Willie and he threw and landed more puches.

This was a terrible fight by two fighters that wouldn't even be concidered for a title fight if it wasn't for the fact their are so many titles popping up everywhere so every promoter can claim they have a "world champion" Billy Joe Saunders is a perfect example what is wrong with boxing today. You have a good club fighter who gets his hands on a alphabet title belt. Spends every waking moment running his mouth to the press on how good he is while his management team carefully cherry picks the competition. Watching this "title fight" looked more like a club fight not a world class competitive fight between two world class fighters. They ended up giving this fight away for free on youtube and it was still painful to watch. Billy Joe better forget about a real fight with most of the top ten. Can you imagine what would happen to this guy if he was thrown in the ring with the likes of GGG, Canelo, Jacobs, Spence or Cotto. I'd fear for his safety. Let him keep fighting the fringe fights for his own good and keep up the world beater illusion but please don't let this guy in against ANY of the real middleweights

Who saw the fight?

Here was my round-by-round which I posted in some other thread. No robbery, clear Saunders fight, but dodgy judge having it 115-114, Monroe did nothing all fight, I think I gave him a couple rounds.

1) they may have been fighting with handbags - clear Saunders though as Monroe not active

2) still handbags away in the seond, saunders getting a couple more slaps in, probably 2-0 saunders, Monroe needs to step it up

3) zzzz

4) Saunders up after 4, but Saunders picked up a cut - sounded like head clash. not pretty. Commentators have Saunders 1 point up (think they gave a 10-10)

5) Think Saunders got the 5th, but painful to watch. Saunders used a lot of energy in the first 5 and is visibly getting more scrappy

6) Think Saunders got the 6th, but oh god is this fight awful...feeling sorry for myself

7) think Saunders outstank Monroe in the 7th, so monroe round....but stopping caring I think

8) Saunders wins 8th.....got a new oxymoron 'Saunders powerpunch'

9) Saunders wins 9th, I think, I nodded off a bit in the middle.......is there a WFOTY category ? (Worst Fight of...)

10) Saunders gets 10th I think.......bindings come loose on Saunders gloves, most exciting part of fight so far

11) Monroe squeaks 11th I think.....commentators sounding exhausted too

12) Monroe stats to fight in the 12th.....err Willie, a bit late wot ? Saunders easy points win unless the judges fell asleep and can't read the scores because they drooled over the cards while napping.

I think the key factor was a couple of the ring posts having Golovkin's face on and both of them being like deer in headlights every time they caught a glimpse of it. So the tactic was to manoevre the other guy around so that he was looking at Golovkin and then fire a jab at the stationary target.

It was a VERY boring fight.

Monroe just didn't engage at any point.

I don't really think we learnt anything new about BJS either - he did well enough against a very defensive opponent but hardly make a statement.

Calling out Khan was a bit weird as well, all of a sudden he has forgotten about Canelo, GGG and Jacobs.

Credit to Billy, I was rooting for Monroe but you could tell Billy was taking this dead serious with his preparations.
