The fact you had Floyd moving forward suggests maybe you weren't ready for Floyd than the latter lol.

Still respect for the bold attempt, but I didn't like the "he's just poised" bs he kept saying. Floyd clearly fought down to the level of his competition cuz he could. He took the path of least resistance to beating Conor & the more entertaining path for people viewing the path that ultimately made it such a positive boxing PPV which seems to happen so rarely & virtually never happens with Floyd, no disrespect to Floyd cuz I'm ultimately a fan as a cat from Michigan but reality is reality with what people wanna see.

      before the fight...

"we're ready for anything that he brings, we're ready for a war, we're ready for tree minutes rounds for all 12 rounds"..

      after the fight..

"oh, we didnt prepare for that, we werent ready for that, we didnt think he would fight like that"..

Dumb excuse. If anything, Floyd should have been easier to hit and fight coming forward. Lets face it, Conor wasn't ready to be in a boxing ring period. Got rope-a-doped, oldest trick in the book.

I also think Floyd was aware of what casual and MMA fans would say if he boxed him and pot shotted him to a 12-0 decision. Boxing purists might have appreciated that but the casuals would be saying that Mayweather was scared and ran all night. The fact that Floyd walked the bigger man down and stopped him was great for boxing. He was the tougher man in the ring and he was able to beat Conor in a tough man type contest. There was no doubt who was running that fight.

You've heard almost zero smack talk from MMA fighters and fans since the fight. If Mayweather would have boxed him you'd be hearing non stop talk about Conor being too tough for Mayweather toe to toe. The only reason I would have liked to see the fight go 30 more seconds is to see Conor laid out in the ring.

Even boxing fans who are huge Floyd haters have to admit they were proud of boxing that night because of how Floyd disposed of big mouth McGregor.

Conor isn't a boxer so blaming him for anything that went wrong when he crossed over from MMA into boxing is kinda funny to read. Can't blame him for not knowing Floyd would come forward, stamina...none of that. He tried, he failed, it's time to move on.

What I find interesting is that so many act as if Floyd COMPLETELY did something he's NEVER done. Go watch Floyd vs Corley, Floyd vs Mitchell, Floyd vs Judah. Pacman and Guererro might be exceptions. But he walked those guys down to in a more aggressive style.

When he feels he has the ability to, he will do that in the middle of the fight and on. People typically say "Floyd has issues with southpaws". I think that came from the Corley and Judah fights. Vs Corley, he was more aggressive and at times throughout the fight seemed to like the battle like he was having fun (go watch). Vs Judah, he knew he was in with a fighter who probably had more speed and pop than him. So he fought with his hands up. Once the distance thing wasn't working too well, he focused on walking Judah down and Judah couldn't handle the pressure. Vs Sharmba Mitchell, Mitchell was just too short so Floyd likely felt comfortable just walking over him. I think guys like Guerrero were too slow to where Floyd felt comfortable boxing. Vs Pacman, he was extra cautious because of Pacman's speed and volume. Pacman being shorter in height and reach allowed Mayweather to stay comfortable from the outside. I feel Mayweather was about to do the same thing to Victor Ortiz. He spends the first 3-4 rounds just doing enough to win a round or not completely lose it. Then once he's dialed in on what's working, he remains consistent and calm. He likely would have peppered Ortiz late.

Many have made it seem like Floyd goes life and death, blood and guts with southpaws. He simply fights them differently based on their skill and talent set and if they have speed or size advantages over him. Vs Orthodox, he can more comfortably use his pull counters, shoulder rolls, etc.

Vs McGregor, I think Floyd knew he'd have trouble fighting the distance game as he even noted that McGregor is bigger, stronger, younger and longer. So he focused on smothering and pressure to render McGregor's big advantages less effective. Mayweather was smiling even in the early rounds. I feel he solved him early, was patient and trusted in the gameplay he had as well as his own skills.

You never boxed, you collected money for a fool's Circus.
It is all good, it is not your fault the world is filled with idiots.

You are not prepared to fight an amateur Boxer, period.

100% agree. Most boxing fans know that Floyd has fought in all different styles his career. He has been less toe to toe at high weights, but nothing he did against McGregor was all that unusual for him.

What is BS though is that the announcers acted surprised, those guys should know better, they've all been studying Floyd for 2 decades. They called a terrible fight and missed a lot of what was going on because they had a narrative to uphold.

Yeah I wish the announcers would have acted like they've seen Floyd fight before. It was as if they were told to sell the fact that Floyd had to completely go out of the norm of his entire career just to beat the big bad Connor McGregor. When in fact, it was vintage Floyd where he spends a couple or few rounds testing how his opponent throws punches, testing feints, seeing what distance he needs to be to land certain punches, reacting to his opponent's punches to see where they miss, watching their muscle twitches to anticipate when they throw, seeing how they react when he throws, etc. Floyd rarely feels the pressure to WIN rounds out of the gate. He is always thinking 12 rounds. So he's comfortable losing 4 to win 8. He never says he goes in there and shuts guys out, but rather "finds a way to win".
