I've no doubt McGregor is physically fit enough to go 12 rounds...
I actually don't know about this. This is purely anecdotal but I live in a town with a top-flight professional rugby league side, and one time a few years back they went down to the gym I go to train (this was before I was going there so I'm just going off what the trainers were telling me.)
Now Rugby (either code) is obviously a high-intensity sport where most of the team plays two 40-minute halves with no break unless they get subbed, so you'd think that doing some boxing training would be no big deal to them, but apparently they were all gassed out after a few rounds on the pads. By no means were these guys any less fit than your typical pro boxer, but it's different kinds of stamina. Now, while individual UFC rounds are longer, the fights on the whole are a lot shorter, and the body gets taxed in different ways than during a boxing match. People have already passed comment on here that Connor has a much different musculature from Floyd so that could indicate that his stamina is of a different kind to a typical pro boxer. Obviously his training camp will rectify that somewhat but at the very least there's no way he'll be as ready to go 12 as Floyd is.
MMA fighters use clinches to rest for extended peroids.
McGregor doesn't even know how to take breaks in a Boxing match.
wwcd.
Between the body punches that will sap the legs, the fatigue to come from throwing and missing, having to navigate 36 minutes of work, the wear of Floyd's pressure, and likely not knowing how to find rest over the course of a fight, McGregor's in for a long night if he's already underestimating the type of effort 12 rounds against Floyd is going to take.

well you might be right.
The point i was making that Conor is a world class athlete in his own and may be fit in enough to go 12, but that would be hugely dependant on what happened in the ring. The reason i give Conor the benefit of the doubt on that is that he is still a fighter and although boxing and MMA are different, they have still built stamina and their fitness through fighting, not to mention a physique built for combat sports. It's still a lot closer comparison than a rugby player on the pads.
You're right though. Actually the did some kind of scientific tests, i can't remember the details but it was during the olympics and it basically said that the only athletes with better stamina than boxers out of every olympic event were the marathon runners.
Either way it won't matter. I think he's gas anyway. I don't see how you can be a novice in a sport and go in with someone with the experience and skill of Floyd and not end up frustrated and exhausted.
If Boxing is so "easy" and "safe" then why has there been no deaths or career ending injuries in UFC in 20 years and there are numerous of those in Boxing every year?
Safe, ha!! I wish Floyd has 30 so he could beat the living **** out of him and show him what's safe.
Stick him in there with GGG or Canelo at 160 lbs and I bet that he if he manages to see Round 2 he quits on his stool in Round 3. For his own safety!!
the conditioning is more of a concern to McGregor as he can only punch & is not used to punching for 3 to 5 minutes a round, I feel he's going to start tiring probably sometime after round 4
Exactly.

This guy's gassing or getting knocked out inside of 5 rounds GUARANTEED. He has no idea if he honestly thinks it's that easy.
The *ish is hard as hell: constantly keeping your neck stiff, keeping your core engaged, keeping a punch ready, keeping your legs moving, all at the same time...it's NOT easy.
