Comments Thread For: WBC Prez Expects Golovkin To Stake Title, Despite Canelo's Beef

World Boxing Council (WBC) president Mauricio Sulaiman has come out and stated that his organization has no issue with Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez. The Mexican superstar has a heated relationship with the sanctioning body, and that issue dates back to a disagreement from a year ago. Canelo first became upset with the sanctioning body last May, when they pressed him to make a mandatory defense of his WBC middleweight belt against Gennady Golovkin. At the time, Canelo was on trial in Miami in connection to a legal dispute with former promoter All Star Boxing.

Canelo doesn't want to fight for the WBC title and will not pay a sanctioning fee.

So tough ****, Sulaiman. You can't force him to.

WBC is just mad they aren't getting their juicy sanctioning fee for this fight if Golovkin losses and believe me he will lose just like he lost to Jacobs. This is what the WBC gets for mandating a champion to fight another champion, that is very rare and odd in boxing that the mandatory for a sanctioning body's champions belt would be another champion from a different body...

Now they will lose out on an easy 200k sanctioning fee.

All of the sanctioning bodies are scum but Canelo has no reason to be bitter about last year. It's not like the WBC came out of nowhere and pressured Canelo. Cotto was supposed to defend against Golovkin but they paid step aside money and WBC said that's fine but the Cotto/Canelo winner has to come to a deal with Golovkin right after. They had plenty of heads up.
Canelo is really playing in to the perception that he's a big baby. Maybe he's actively trying to get people to hate him so that he can get people to pay to see him lose. Sort of like what was happening with Floyd

Lol, since November 21st Golden Boy and Canelo knew about the Mandatory situation.

From November to May, that's plenty of time to negotiate and figure things out.

I understand how Canelo feels but he himself and Golden Boy put themselves in that situation. They had plenty of time to negotiate or work something out.

Acting like a big baby about it now is not going to do him any good. SMH, Lol

What's the score with GGG and his mandatories? or voluntary fights even. I can't keep up with it all.

If he beats Canelo, but is then contracted to do a rematch. Is there a chance the IBF threaten to strip him before the rematch?

Jacobs baloney & L'il red running hood

First lets get it STRAIT. GGG did NOT loose to Jacobs.

Jacobs gave up a title so that he could come in at CRUSER WEIGHT***

He HAD Height Weight REACH....and still lost..

Ask why he had sunglasses on in the posts.

Both his eyes were closed. He ran. As to loosing to Lil Red running hood.

Never happen. GGG will beat him from pillar to post.

Just for talking & waiting till he got older.

Lets get on these people about weighing morning of the fight ..see how many cheaters move up in weight!!!!

favoring Golovkin in that negotiation, was..... ******

the WBA played fair, so they got their fight..... the WBC stacked that negotiation in favor of Golovkin, so they got NOTHING

now, when Canelo rules middleweight for the next few years, the WBC will be on the outside looking in

once again the WBC will NOT have the best man at 160

just like they did not have the best heavyweight for a decade when Klitschko was doing his thing

Probably. Just like Joshua will probably be stripped for making a contractually obligated rematch with Wlad. And Indongo will likely be stripped for fighting the universally recognized best fighter in his division. Its a joke. I don't understand why people take the sanctioning bodies seriously. And throughout the 00s, they became close to irrelevant. Really don't understand how they've made a comeback. I blame the influx of new, relatively uneducated fans that the Floyd-Manny soap opera brought to the sport. And most of those fans that where on the Manny side have latched on to GGG. And most of them bought GGG's little fake belt quest hook-line-n-sinker.
