Fighters have always padded their records since the sport started. What I really wonder is why fighters with extensive amature careers pad their records so much. I can understand getting 5-8 fights under your belt agienst limited guys and then start stepping it up steadily. I understand that the amatures is not like the pro's but these guys obviously have good skills if they were successful at the amature level. There are a few out there that have chosen the paths of more resistance guys like Alexander Povetkin and Lucian Bute. They both have steped up agienst solid guys early in their careers to name some prospects now. Look at HW Kevin Johnson half his fights have been agianst top journy men or fringe contenders in only 9 fights. It just bugs me that guys run their records to like 20-0 and have fought nobody like say JD Chapmen. What do you guys think about padding records. Personally I have a lot of respect for guys who take a more challanging path and earn their records.
