P4P lists should be about skills + resume.

Otherwise you can have a Lucian Bute type high on the list just because he looks good against overmatched opponents.

It seems like everyone wants to be the first to put him at number 1 on their list and beat everyone else to the punch.

He's clearly a top 10 talent, but number 1?? Idk about that one. At least not today

Very laughable article... Hype-tech needs to beat a pound for pound fighter to even be on the list of pound for pound... .

Some of you guys need to calm down. This is just a single opinion from a Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA) member, a full member who can vote on prestigious “Sugar Ray Robinson” FOTY & FOTD (Fighter of the Decade) awards. It isn't “official” in any capacity because it's only one man's opinion. The reality is that Ward officially became the current P4P #1 ranked fighter in the world after Chocolatito controversially lost according to both The Ring and the TBRB's current P4P lists. Those two publications are the ones that take precedence over all the rest, and in that order. They actually have boards with educated and established members that vote on these matters. While The Ring has extremely little credibility these days their P4P list is an exception and is still sensible enough to continue to be used. When Ward fights Kovalev again in June he'll be announced as The Ring's P4P #1 ranked fighter in the world.

Ok, he literally just cast off Ward, Kov, and G because they are older than 32? Are you kidding me?

He doesn't even say Loma is better p4p than those three. Just that those other three are getting old. Think if Ward is already 33 and he fights til he is 39 or 40, like Floyd, Hopkins, Klitschko, etc. etc. then that's only seven years so apparently anyone over 32 is automatically barred from the p4p list. Ok, sure.

I just lost so much respect for this idiot. I will never be able to take anything he writes seriously again.

ESPN's board ranked GGG as P4P #1 after defeating Jacobs in a decision that some people, between a quarter & one-third according to the BLH fan poll, believe he shouldn't have gotten. But, on another major list, GGG was just bumped down a spot by Lomachenko. If ESPN just voted GGG as their P4P #1 fighter and the TBRB just bumped him down a spot in favor of Lomachenko then that should tell you guys how dominant he's been over the last few years. Lomachenko has been a Top 5 or fringe Top 5 P4P ranked fighter across the board since beating Walters.

                    Latest Updates

11 April 2017: *** Rankings changes in 5 divisions this week, as well in the P4P List.

Hi-Tech Vasyl Lomachenko, #1 at Jr. Lightweight, stops #7-ranked Jason Sosa. Sosa’s lion heart and experience were non-factors in this match, and he drops to #8. We salute his courage, notwithstanding his defeat. Lomachenko also moves up on the P4P List from #7 to #6 –over Gennady Golovkin, though not without a fight from several members wary of hype and expecting a tougher proving ground than lower-end contenders.

Manny has only beaten one top 5 welterweight the last 5 years..... Bradley.... Mayweather beat him, JMM knocked him out yet he is still in the top ten p4p and top ten @ ww

Ward is undefeated unified @ 175, hasn't lost since 13 years old and has had one close fight his entire pro career

Kovalev is more dangerous and more accomplished than anyone loma has fought. Barrera went on to prove he is top ten @ 175, ward outclassed him.

Froch was more dangerous and accomplish than anyone kov has fought....add wins over Dawson, Abraham, Kessler, Bika, and its clear as day ward is more proven, battle tested

PROVEN and talented are two different things....PFP #1 has to be proven....this isn't just eye test sorry
Froch is a limited fighter in my book.

                      Despite having a great record.

He lost to Ward, Kessler and I thought he lost to Dirrell ie lost to any elite fighter he fought.

Hopkins woulda schooled Froch, Calzaghe too.

                      Never was impressed.
