And if you do your research you'll find that ****y black American fighters have always been the most hated despite their fighting their style. Jack Johnson, Muhammad Ali, Floyd Mayweather are prime examples.
Believe me mate, I don't need to do any research. I could write for a boxing ****zine if I had the chance.
Firstly I would not describe Hopkins as "****y", he is just surly, full of excuses, a cheat, and a dirty fighter...plus racist.
You say Ali etc were hated, but Ali is loved by far more fans than any other
boxer in history, and that is despite him pouring hatred on white people for virtually all his pro career. People love and hate all types of other people, but ****y, extrovert boxers get noticed more, and are therefore more saleable to the public, because both fans AND haters want to see them fight, instead of just fans.
Many people wanted to see Hamed ko'd, me included, because he was outright arrogant. But I loved Ray Leonard, Jorge Paez, Vinny Pazienza, and Hector Camacho, because they were entertaining, colourful and charismatic, without coming across as ****s. Mayweather I do not like at all, he was not only arrogant, he was boring in the ring.
The guy you have as your avatar, McGregor, is arrogant, but is still fun and he is the only guy I watch in mma, and I am a big fan, why he bucks the trend with me, I don't know, but he is very interesting, and backs up what he says...unlike Mayweather.

McGregor is ok with you because he is white. I like McGregor but even a lot of the people in MMA call him a Floyd imitator. McGregor is even more over the top with his trash talking but people are ok with it because he is a white Irishman while Floyd is a black American.

Ali wasn't loved by the American public until years after his boxing career had finished. And it's mostly due to his humanitarian work and his stance against the Vietnam War.

Man, Hopkins was bleeding from the base of the back of his neck. He landed on that, not really his head.

But Smith, in his youth and inexperience, figured out how to rock this older, safety conscious Hopkins, when his other previous 4-5 opponents didnt. Smith reckoned that he's 27, Hopkins is 51. Whatever "trap" Hopkins is setting, all your getting by walking into this trap is a 51 year old man's punch ! So you just walk through it and throw some punches, and you've won the fight !

The other guys...Shumenov, Cloud, even Kovalev to a certain extent. This old man is setting a trap, I better not try anything or he'll hurt me ! So they just stared at him for 12 rounds. Smith, in his youth, didn't do THAT much thinking! Walk through the traps, and if I get hit by the old man, so be it! I'm gonna see what happens if I actually hit him!

This sport doesn't have room for excuses like "ohh dey so racist". When fl0mos are unable to form a logical argument, they invariably play the 'race card'. Both Bernard and Floyd have acted like entitled b**** for much of their careers, and that is where most of the hate comes from. If you're going to act like a prick to sell fights, then be prepared to handle the ensuing criticism. Boxing, in and of itself, has no 'isms'. It's Man vs. Man, race/religion/creed/color mean absolutely nothing when the bell rings.

Oh shut up. This sport has been racist for generations. Look up the Johnson vs Jeffries fight. The first "fight of the century" where the media hyped up that fight explicitly using race. Jeffries was supposed to be the Great White Hope (the white media coned this term in the early 20th century) who would destroy the black heavyweight in Johnson. Then Schmeling vs Louis, Gerry Cooney vs Larry Holmes, and so on and so forth were fights that were sold as racial fights.

Being black and dominant has always been a lightning rod in boxing but you haven't done your history so you say ignorant things like "this sport doesn't have room for excuses like racism" when this sport historically is very racist.

And explain to me why the guy I was responding to has no problem with McGregor being arrogant but had a problem with Mayweather and Naseem Hamed being arrogant? You think race has nothing to do with the differences in how those men are perceived?

You pinoys are too busy worshiping white people to believe racism exists.

Lucky punch. B-hop was winning the fight. I would like to see a rematch. If u look at the replay closely u see BHop slipped and then he got pulled out the ring by the cameraman who works for Joe MSith Promotions. Go watch the replay.

Referencing fights that took place when racism was still widely prevalent does very little to help your argument. Your suppositions about racism is making you look ignorant and foolish, rather than - as you would believe - giving you any sort of ethical advantage, by endowing you with the privilege to call people out for alleged 'racism'. Furthermore, much of the criticism directed at Hopkins has very little to do with his skin color and more so with his dishonest rationalization on losing the fight.

As for the reasoning behind why another poster would choose to be a fan of Conor and not Floyd, this could be due to a number of things that doesn't necessarily have to be associated with racism.
