The idea of the challenger must take the belt from the champion is long gone. Many boxers win the title when the fight was close. Ward won on points but the judges had it all wrong. Maybe because Ward is well received in their eyes. Accuracy is important but if someone throws more and lands more; and the punches do more than they should win. The crusher won... But a rematch is mandatory. Ward needs to be humbleness ****y because Christmas came early...

I never gave Bradley the first Pacquiao fight, but I never hold it against him.

Ward won and Kov is still great......

I think Ward will be more dominant in the rematch because I saw ring rust in the first half of the fight that wont be there in the second. Kov is still a great fighter and brutal puncher that has many more years in the sport. Possible more than Ward because he hasn't shown a propensity for injuries and hasn't taken a lot of damage. I see Ward winning second fight and even with that said Kov still may get a shot at Stevenson seeing how Roc Nation and Haymon don't seem willing to do business.

Anyone who says this was a robbery doesn't know their boxing. I've been a Kovalev fan since well before he won his first 'world' title, and I don't much like Ward's style, but I thought Ward edged it by a point. A draw or a one point win for Kovalev would have been within the acceptable range. But no more than that. This was a very close fight and in my view, for once, the judges all got it right.

The thing is Ward is right. Kov probably cant fight a different way but I do believe Ward did struggle with his style. Ward will win the rematch unless Kov comes out swinging but at the same time Kov does not want to be caught by the smaller Ward.
Kov needs to go out on his shield in the next fight otherwise Ward will adjust and pick him off.

2. this is just early promotion for the rematch

3. or ward is simply embracing the villain role he has been given..no matter how humble or politically correct ward tries to be, all of the hate poured on floyd is now fallin on his head . .floyd embraced it, ward is running from it.. with statements like these it shows ward is ready to be most hated and use it to his advantage (pay to watch me lose..then i win)

anyway as far as the fight itself, ward never really figured out how to avoid the jab..and kovalevs jabs are fckn brutal, he was eating them flush in round 10. .so if he doesn't find a way to deal with that, expect another close fight. . one advantage ward has going into a rematch is he knows he can take kovs power now.

So the question becomes why did Andre Ward not put on his best performance in what was the biggest fight in his career against what he considers a lesser opponent, and instead chose to skate by with a close and questionable decision.

Seems to me if there was ever a night to display your best it was last weekend.
